Help!! Tansmission light came on

i was driving home from work, and literally a minute from my house. I turned a corner, and this light with a gear and exclamtion in the middle came on. I was like wtf!! so i stop the car threw it park, shut it off, turned it back on. no more light. However after pulling into my drive way, i see a liquid trail behind my car. and right underneath my car, there is literally a puddle splashed all over the place. underneath the hood and everything. At First i thought my tranny sprung a leak somewhere, then i thought it was coolant, but now after i put my hand underneath the car, it looks like a golden color. so i think its actually oil.

What could have caused this? i didn't do anything out of the ordinary. it just happened. I called BMW service, but i don't have an appointment till wed, is my car still driveable?

also, no clue what might have caused it but take it to the dealer asap

If It was me I would have it towed to the dealer.
