Just wanted to share that this dude found a way to up his ranking fast, and then is targeting people that post willing to purchase certain parts. I fell for the scam, but wanted to share so hopefully no one else gets hit. Looks to be a few other people are in talks so I wanted to share where I know people will see.

To be honest, the writing was on the wall but with a 4 month old, I wasn't paying attention since I'm half dead daily right now. So hopefully no one else falls for it, but he's hitting all the forum pages.

What is the scam? Steals money (PayPal? Venmo? Etc)? Sends knock off part after you pay?

Basically he hunts for people looking to buy ("WTB"), or that are replying to members response to other peoples items for sale. Then he pulls photos from the forum members that sold something in the past.

His excuse is that he hasn't listed anything yet, because he wants to sell local but is willing to let that specific part go. HE prices items relatively in par with the demand, and then requests funds via zelle or paypal. He uses other peoples accounts and then ghosts right after you send funds.

Good thing is that I posted his data on reddit, and it looks to be a lot of people are dragging him along and not paying for anything to waste his time as the news goes around the forum.

He did this to me. I replied to an F90 black grille on another members post then he PM'd me saying he has a grille that he would send asap if i paid him that day. I asked for pictures and he sent side stock grilles from an F10 which looked like a stock photo from a dealer website. I told him that was not a black F90 grille and he blocked me. I thought he could be legit cause of his rank. Straight tool.

Ya I should have noticed via the communication that he was a tool, but I wasn't paying attention.

The same number texted me (from a different account). I had replied to a thread about wheel spacers, and he dmed back posing as the seller.

I shared my number, we texted a few times and things immediately felt fishy as he was willing to offer any part under the sun for a too good to be true price.

I go back to the thread I posted in and realize he was never the OP of that thread

I've started to notice more and more of these posts. This thread has multiple people who have been scammed or nearly by this person (or group of people) that keeps changing their username. I just saw this post on the G30 forum:

Same scam but different username and phone number (805-978-5616). However, if you Google the number you come to this F10 post from a month ago:

It mentions one of the usernames they changed to was "JoeBP", which reminds me of "InsiderBP" from this thread.

Then same phone number and other usernames mentioned as part of the same scam on the X3 forum:

It seems they take advantage of people on the forums in a few different ways. I'm not sure if admins are seeing this or if people are reporting it. I'm not sure who all the admins are but probably worth tagging them or messaging for visibility. Jason

It’s worth the 3% to use the “services” portion of PayPal. For this reason. 3% is cheap insurance.
