First of all, nice rendering jonsibal. Good work as always!

My only gripe here is that the new M5 looks really close to the current F80. It's just like a bigger F80 M3 with a slight cosmetic mod. Tbh, there was a "wow" factor that I received when the M5 went from the E60 to the F10. On this new model however, it's just like meh. The design jump was so subtle that this new model didn't impress me cosmetically. Take note, I'm only talking about looks here. Performance wise, this incoming model will outshine the current M5 for sure.

agreed looks cool though!

If this is how it looks i'm not sure I'm sold on that front end. It seems really busy for an M5. If you look at the E39, E60, and F10 it was low key. This one just jumps out at you with those big snorkels, and I'm thinking that it takes away some of the classiness of the car.

I can see that stuff on a 2/3/4 series, but if you pull up to the opera with this it looks like it might try to eat the valet.

Maybe I'm getting too old...

No way, unless it's got AWD and a launch control that actually works.

As a present F80 owner, I hope they have a similar design. I may be looking for a size/creature comfort upgrade in the near future and this would fit nicely

Wow wow wow! That is freaking aggressive. I love it. If it looks even remotely like this I will say it's a Win for BMW.

I'm with you on this. The f80 is one of the best looking sedans on the road - I think its only a good thing to be its more muscular and dapper big brother.

Gotta say I'm gonna miss the hood bump though. That thing really grew on me. At first I thought it was totally a step back from the vented hood on the previous generation, but now that Sakhir Orange bulge makes met wet every time.

Not for nothing, but look at ANY year/model M3 and the car always look good. The M3 ages very well.

The same can not be said for the M5. Any of the older M5's, save possibly the E39 M5, looks hopelessly dated and out of style... like the chassis is trying very hard to be something it isn't.

Same thing with the drive. M3 feels spot on. The M5 feels like a big heavy car trying to be sporty.

Looks nice but headlight flush between hood and bumper is annoying me. Rear fender need more flare

Ps. I hope they consider adding something on the hood

The dynamics of the picture are off. The wheels have too much lock for the speed shown and the road in the background. Unless of course the car is drifting and in that case it's drifting out of a left hander and the picture shows it coming out of a right hander.

That figure might just be the 0-100km/h target...

These potentially significant clues are a bit interesting especially as they are on the same car in addition to DCT and M Rear Diff development settings:

- NSG Development Data Set - Increased Performance

- NSG Development Calibration DSCT - Maximum torque start tire friction (additional variant)

- NSG Development - Calibration for seamless function axle output spindles

It's actually so close to being 100% perfect to the real thing there isn't anything more significant to add.

The heat extractors on all of them so far aren't quite there. The new Shadow Line/upper character line is quite detailed on the G30 and hard to truly discern despite the official pics.

Why do modern BMW designers think that vertical rear reflector strips = sporty?

reflectors in general are ugly, but lucky for us many people think the same and a market is created for paint matched replacements

It's consistent with where BMW has taken their product since the introduction of the F-Series. Everything in this render is congruent with all of the current M offerings.
