Putting our E46 M3 CSL on the dyno

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
We wanted to see how healthy our newly acquired E46 M3 CSL was so we put it on the dyno to find out.

The car is a 2003 model and has 69k miles on it.

IIRC Horsepower Freaks was putting down 1,000 HP with a blown S54.

In Season 7 of Top Gear, Jeremy says he like the RS4 more 'cause it has 414 hp… or there abouts. To me, the E46 looks better, lighter and slightly better balanced. The RS4 has acceleration advantage and is well balanced for all wheel drive.
Both are fun cars but I think I would prefer the E46… and this example is fantastic!
Thanks for showing us!

Watched the record with my own two eyes. He put down just shy of 1,200. Right before the embezzlement and shop shutting down lol.

I've owned both and driven my friend's CSL in Scotland. IMO, the E46 is much more of a driver's car and so much more fun! The sound of the B7 RS4 V8 is absolutely intoxicating and it was definitely more spacious, but the sound of the CSL airbox (much different than the M3 S54 ZCP in the US) and excitement of RWD with proper bucket seats is just an orgasmic combination.

The interior of the CSL is beautiful, it will certainly be seen as a top 5 BMW for collectors.
