E90 as a family vehicle?
Hey Guys,
Just found out we are expecting, currently 8 weeks along! Any-who, I currently own an 09 E90 335i M sport. I was just curious as to the Dads/moms on here putting their babies with car seats and the like in the back of their E90's. Is it easy to maneuver around or is it pretty tight back there? strollers and other misc. items you take with you, do they fit okay? Just trying to gauge weather or not its time to part with my one baby for my new pride and joy I was thinking F10 550? |

I don't know about kids, but I can say that the 3-series is pretty darn roomy. I've fit most of my belongings in it when moving! I wouldn't expect you to have any issues at all, assuming the seats aren't allllll the way back. The trunk is also pretty awesome I've found.

eh, lol guess it's not as bad as I thought haha. I guess I was already getting the New car itch and this was helping me. I should borrow my neighbors carseat and see how it fits.

Fit this in my e90 no problem. I'd probably go with the Chico Keyfit 30 (or something similar - where the carrier can be removed from a base) as the first seat though. You're gonna want to be able to leave him/her sleeping in the carseat/carrier when you reach your destination and be able to pull that out and keep baby sleeping. I've done both and neither was a tight fit. |

I have 2 kids and a third on the way. My wife likes giant baby seats they almost don't fit in my Ford Explorer let alone the E90. If you get a reasonable baby seat you should be fine. Just don't let the wife start looking up safety ratings on baby seats or she'll get the biggest one she can find. As far as haulin my kids its does a pretty good job thus far.

With 1 child and an E90, you'll be fine. Infant carriers are big and it can be a little unwieldy to unclick one from the base when your child is inside, but it's not that bad. As long as you have rear doors, it's not going to be an issue of room. I had a Lexus IS350 and the rear seat on that was a good bit smaller than the E90. Infant carrier fit just fine.
You'd probably only have a problem if you're really tall. Sometimes the infant carriers are big enough you can't move your seat back past a certain point. If you had an E92, that would be different. It's very annoying to move an infant carrier out of a 2 dr. |

I've had an E90 since my son was born, and he's now 2. We had a KeyFit 30 infant seat in the rear passenger side. The front passenger seat had to be pushed pretty far forward, but we made it work (but there wasn't much front leg room). Once my son outgrew the infant seat we got a Recaro Performance Ride convertible seat, and rear-facing I was able to put it behind the driver's seat without any issue. We just flipped him forward facing and there's still sufficient room.

We use a Recaro Performance Sport and a Chicco Key Fit 30. Like others have said, you have to move the seat in front of the infant carrier up just a bit.
The trunk is spacious enough to fit an Uppababy Vista and attachments plus room for a grocery run and diaper bag. Changing diapers in the car is a pain though. Without a taller rear deck that an SUV provides, you'll be fighting the downward slope of the rear seat. Congrats! |

should be fine, I have an e90 as well and a toddler, fits very well with her recaro baby seat although the ride are bit stiff (since its an msport) but your baby should be fine as long as you don't trash the car when youre with the baby.

Well mine is 3 and a half years old, he seats comfortably back there because his car seat is behind the passenger seat where the seat is not too far back. The stroller fits across in the trunk, not a problem getting it out. So far it works just fine. I'm sure you will be ok with your born to be. Btw congrats!!

With a baby, it's pretty unbelievable how much space a stroller takes up. E90 is doable for a ride somewhere, but not a family trip anywhere IMHO.... Ps the baby will put things into perspective....it's a wonderful thing. Congrats! |

Spacious room for a fold up pram. Not sure if u still want the middle rest. I put my daughter's baby seat on the side ( the side where its safe). Nice and snug near the middle but on the side |
