No, and I didn't even ask. The hole in the block did make it easier to diagnose the internals.
Here's a piece of the block. I made a paper weight out of it.

So I was doing some more digging in ISTA, I found the canned letter BMW sends out when they flag your car.

Missed my own thread. Nothing done to the car, nothing wrong. I am just wondering
So in my hypothetical, lets say it had a ecu/tcu tune

I think no one here has gotten flagged in a turn in. That's the point. They're not going to dig this dip for a simple lease turn in. I'd be shocked if dealers had the time. Mine can't even change an oil in a day.

I definitely understand what you mean, but doesn't really pertain to my question.

Has anyone with a BMW lease ever had their car flagged for an ecu tune? If so when the car was turned back in (be it a month or 2 years after the flag was placed), was there an issue with turning the lease in?

I turned in my m340 that was flagged no issues at all, plus the car was turned in at 50k miles, forgot to mention dealers don’t usually share info with one another on customer cars, so if it was flagged for a warranty repair at one dealer, take it to another dealer but hope they don’t also find out it’s flashed

The only issue is for the dealer, they can't certify the car. So they can't sell it as a certified pre-owned because of the ecu tune. Other than that you have no worries until she blows! Lol

Oh I thought you meant was it flagged during turn in. Haha

👍🏿 Thanks for your info though.
I'm thinking of picking up an M8, but no way will I be able to hold off on a tune like I did on my M5. I was mother Theresa incarnate with only an xpipe and lowering springs, nothing else. Not sure I have it in me to resist on my next BMW......

I'm ok with having to pay for repairs if something happens as a result of the tune. I just don't want to be stuck with the car when lease ends and I wanna try something else

Don't think for a second they wouldn't take it back. I think they simply can't make it a CPO after. From what I've heard elsewhere it's no skin of your nose.

Did you fight it? This is next level insanity.
