is it too much to ask to have radio turn off?

WTH, so frustrating, why is it the radio has to stay on when I shut car off, I am so tired of this idiocy and people constantly telling me "you left your car on, also how do I see the dang odometer?

Lock your car, odometer in trip idrive factory in the app or when you get into car and start it

Turn the engine off before you undo your seatbelt. It should turn off unless there's someone in the passenger seat. I'm usually to lazy / not paying attention and just lock it.

Don't open your car door until you've shut the vehicle off. The audio system will shut down if you follow that procedure. If you have another passenger in the vehicle it'll wait for them to open their door as well before shutting down.

Same here. And I sometimes leave the key in the car too. I just hit the power button now out of habit because I rarely remember to get home in the right order. Haha

+ 1 Above with M5 guy.
Just hold the power button volume knob for a sec after you power down the car.
Everything will turn off, and then no need to lock the doors when in garage.

I was just thinking the same thing today ('22 Comp) but fortunately does turn off when locking. My previous '18 had a rogue radio the entire time I had it, sometimes turned off when locking, sometimes not - never was able to find a fix. I'm sure it's haunting someone else now.

Someone here on forums pointed that there's thing in menu that you need to have active. I believe it's in I drive settings.
But…
If you have car in garage unlocked, forget something from the car and go back to it , and open door again it'll stay on for whatever amount of time even after you close the door.
Straight up dumb.
And don't forget that $1600 battery when it dies

Music playing after the car is turned off is my biggest pet peeve on my M5.

I have to push the volume button to stop the music before I open the drivers door when I park. Every. Single. Time.

It is so irritating that otherwise we'll thought automobile has this flaw. I happen to own w211 E63 AMG wagon. Once key is removed radio shuts off. Unless you are having conversation over Bluetooth it'll stay on unless
A: you switch from Bluetooth to phone speaker
B: OPEN the door.
How hard was it to do BMW ?

On my LCI, I had to select something in the menus to get the radio to turn off when I open the door. It might have been in the section where you choose lock settings.

Ironically most used to code their older gens to keep the radio on after the door has been opened.

Human (r)evolution.

I do the same. Do you have an LCI? My radio, the whole iDive actually, shuts down when I open the door. But only if you switch the engine off before opening the door.

When I had my X3MC If I opened the door when the car was still on I would have to lock the car to get the radio to turn off. I was told it does automatically shut off after like 7 minutes, but I was not ok with that.

Took seat belt off and then opened door. Still doesn't turn off.

So, just to recap, What is the proper shut down sequence if I want to leave the key in the car and have everything turned off?
