Yes I ordered a competition package F90 M5 last month, yes the build date was confirmed by Munich over the phone. Yes I have a delivery estimate. Read on.

I've purchased quite a few M cars in the last couple years from a BMW owned factory dealership, which means that it's not a dealership owned by a sub company like Trivett here in Australia, BMW group themselves own and run the dealership. They have direct contact with the guys in Munich and after shopping around a few dealers before making a order they were the only ones to have any information on the comp pack.

Now let's get started; Australia will only see the comp pack for orders now on. The first and launch edition is sold / already allocated.

The price of the comp pack in Australia is $20k. Including the following;
  • B&W Hifi standard
  • Carbon fibre engine cover standard (two parts over the engine and charge air coolers at the front of the engine)
  • Suspension is lower -7 / 10mm front and rear
  • Usual black grills badges side vents etc
  • 460kw (616hp) torque not confirmed
  • Competition Package specific exhaust tuning same as latest M3 comp pack, cracks burbles on the over run.
  • Sports exhaust standard on top of tuning
The full information is going to dealers in the April bulletin. With only some of the information was given to me as it was directly effecting my order. E.g I was about to pay for the B&O twice.

My build will be in July this year delivery the last week of September. Australia has 20 cars allocated.

I have the order form, Australian options list with pricing if anyone wants to PM me. (Comp pack isn't on the options list yet, before anyone asks)

Can't wait to see my Frozen Dark Silver w Tartufo Leather, the long wait is now on

It comes with the M Sports Exhaust, the ECU is tuned to be louder, crack and burble more. Same treatment as the F80 CP

I've heard the M Sports Exhaust on the F90 sounds great, I thought much better then my M3 with M Performance Exhaust. With the comp pack ECU it will sound even better.

I'll be putting M performance exhaust (full titanium developed by Akrapovič) as soon as it's delivered anyway.

You can lease a Honda Civic for $99/month for 39 months with $1495 down. That’s Under $6k to run that car for over 3 years. Puts money into perspective. Lol

I love the Akra on my X5M. Talked to them and the F90 is scheduled for summer delivery. Sadly, they are not building the system for BMW like they did for the F10.

Is there 120K value above a 2015 M5 competition pack which can be had for 135K?

Unless 4WD is crucial for you.

I can't see it.

I'm confused... In the M3/M4, the competition package included new sportier seats. I LOVE the look of them, and think it transforms the look inside. I've seen no mention of different seats in the M5 competition package, nor anyone talk about the possibility of them. Anybody have some input? This was a main reason for me holding out.

The comp package in the F10 M5 didn't get different seats so I don't think that the new M5 will get them either. Probably not what you want to hear, but I did sit in the new M5 on saturday and thought the seats were fantastic. Even better than in the F10.

Yeah no need to upgrade the seats in the M5... they've been universally loved and when I sat in them I didn't want to get out of the car

While I agree the seats look plush and interior as a whole is beautiful, I was just holding out hope for a sportier seat w/ cutouts to give the car a little bit more edginess...

To be fair these types of cars in this price range is never about value. I mean let's be real there are people driving around in Panamaras that cost just as much as a M5 and have like 400hp.

And that's exactly why these companies keep getting away with it

When do we expect details about the US packages to be released? I have an order currently estimated to go into production the week of May 3rd. Wondering if I should ask my dealer to hold off, even if it's just so I can add the MSport Exhaust.

I’ve talked to 2 local dealers here in the US and so far no one seems to know anything about the Comp pack release.

I think in theory the models being discussed in this thread (production July for September delivery) is about the 2019 models.

So whatever happened to the update that was supposed to be posted here? Is there any links or articles that confirm this package will be announced in the United States on May 8th?

Not sure how the stiff engine mounts and some other changes would translate to everyday (90%) driving. I welcome the lower suspension and any improvement in handling is welcome.
Wonder how much weight is reduced over all.
Some more color options would be nice.
Also need a black wheel option, lighter wheels are always welcomed.
