These two are amongst the best cars in the world right now.
Of course the 911 Turbo was gonna win, it's an actual sports car and most 0-60 focused of all 911 variants. But it's amazing how well the M5 CS kept up. It would have been even closer vs. the GT3.

But yes I agree on the premise of drag races being mostly pointless. In the real world on public roads it is irrelevant. What matters is how a car actually feels to drive: how it delivers power, how it sounds, how lively/communicative the chassis and steering are, how nimble it feels, etc. This drag race BS is just a d*ck measuring contest for online fanboys.

LOL 911 every time.
Worth mentioning, this is Ontario. In Ontario cops enjoy impounding your car, making up speed and generally the limit is 80km/h on big straight roads, anything w curve of a degree gets a reduction in speed and 100km/h on the 401 which usually moves at 60km/h. So unless you are driving on Mosport, this is not really going to be enjoyable daily. I can see the point of those two cars in EU and UK, roads w turns and cops that are kind and nice. . |

I think the M5 CS is way more special compared to a 5 series than a 911 Turbo S vs standard carrera. M5 and 911 are not in the same segment anyway, one is a purpose built sports coupe and the other a modified 4 doors saloon that can seat 4 adults and lots of luggage... And the M5 CS certainly doesn't embarrass itself on the track either. |

I would put Throttle House in the motoring journalist category over marketing influencers. They aren't shy of calling a bad thing bad. It's just the logical transition from magazines to video.

M5CS is great for novelty with the back seats and wicked speeds. I sold my M6GC CP bc the only time it was really fun was when I was going way over the speed limit and climbing fast. That was impressive. The Turbo (I drove a 991 at PECLA) is a lot of fun on track, and likely more fun bc of size advantage. Probably also relatively boring day to day if following local speed limit laws. If you want a race car that seats 4 (more comfortably) but don't really ever want to go to the track, the M5CS would be awesome. If you want a car that can haul the kids to school but also absolutely rip on track, the 992Turbo is the better option. Or… if you like one more than the other, get that 96% of car selection is preference.

Track day is different then every day driving. Since most people never track m5's it can really only be compared in drag type races. Porsche is an amazing machine, in every category no matter how you slice it

I don’t get the comparison at all, like people said one is a 4 door family sedan and the other is a rear mounted engine sports car. Totally different car classes and driving experiences. The M5cs, M5c is better than any Panamera or Porsche 4 door equivalent. I don’t count the taycan as EV is a different comparison. For rear engine sports cars the 911 is the gold standard, but obviously that is not practical for everyone. 992 turbo s are going for what, 250k+ in this market? At that price point if I didn’t want practicality I would just go for an exotic.

the "point" of the video was for shits and giggles. Obviously everyone is pretty impressed with the CS at this point (except for all the bitching about the seats) so they figured they'd push the envelope by putting it up against something thats a bit more out of it's class. Thats it. Stop overthinking it.
