335 stock exhaust...

Hey guys,
I know many of us have changed out our stock exhausts or are planning to do so, but our stock exhausts sound pretty darn good. What are your thoughts? I actually like the stock exhaust note a lot, but was considering the BMW PE. This may sound odd, but I don't know if the PE sounds much better than stock for some reason. Different....but better?

Here is a quick clip:

I think i'm more inclined to do downpipes and different tips. That way I heard it was deeper, should sound pretty sick. Eventually I wanted to replace the crushed piping underneath as well..

I share alot of your taste OP. The sound of the stock exhaust on start up is amazing which is why i cannot get myself to buy an aftermarket. If you really get the itch I would go as far as changing the tips.

If you enjoy it, definitely don't upgrade it

For me the stock exhaust was awesome but just got a little boring over time. Had to spice things up!

I know. That's why I am not sure if I want to drop $1400-1500 on this PE.

Yeah. There's nothing really wrong with the 335 stock exhaust note. I really like it. But after awhile, I also have that damn itch to "spice things up". I guess that's what everyone calls the "MOD BUG".

to OP, have you done golf-tee yet? maybe you can consider that if that is another level of tone you may love first. no hurt to try, cost free

I just got the PE for my car (e90). Sounds sooo sick! I was going to go aftermarket, but stuck with the PE for potential warranty issues. I was skeptical about the price, but its well worth it. Its not crazy annoying, its really "just right."

Do it!

Thanks for the tip. I've heard/read about it, BUT never really wanted to do it for some reason??? Does that cause any droning inside the cabin?

Congrats. I have no doubt that the PE sounds badass, but not obnoxious. I really don't need convincing at this point on the PE, but I just have to decide if it's something I really want to do. If the stock exhaust note was "weak" like that on the stock e46s (nonM and nonZHP), then I would definitely do it. Enjoy yours

here a bit of drone inside the cabin with the golf tee mod but is very very minimal. You can ziptie it inside of pulling the line. I had another member do mine with zipties. Try it out, it sounds a lot better when you step on it. It might not be for you but it might be, doesnt hurt to try

honestly, there's gonna be drone, but like other mentioned, it's very very minimal...... you can notice it but not big enough to annoy everyone in the car. try and see if you like it

Here is a better video that documents the difference in exhaust note. My biggest beef w/ the stock exhaust is that you didn't really hear the growl until 3K RPM or more.

Stock vs PE Exhaust

Thanks. I actually have seen that one. And although it's a fantastic comparison, I just prefer seeing the car in motion when listening to the exhaust note for some reason.

Thanks Eric. You picked two vids that I absolutely love. I have seen those already as well. Actually, i've watched them both over and over again. That first one was one of the vids that really got me liking the PE.
