Uk recall question
Hi guys I have a 2019 Oct registered M5 comp it was manufactured in nov 18. I've done 5k miles it's never had a service apart from the running in service. They are saying there's a fuel sensor recall with the ecu software flash etc. My question will my pops and bangs go after they do the software update? It's pre OPF.

Are you sure you don't have an OPF? I thought all UK M5C had OPFs, and it was only base M5s that had the benefits of no OPF.. Plenty of other threads on the same recall topic inc. https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1780428 |

The guys over the other side of the pond think their pops and bangs have gone since having the recall done.
On my standard car (with sports exhaust option), there are more of them since having the update. You used to get 2 or 3 goes before it stopped doing it for a wihle. Now, if it's in Sports+ throttle and gear change speed on 3, you can get them pretty much every time you lift off once it's up to temperature.

OP my dates are almost exactly as yours, October 2018 build, September 2019 supplied stock M5 and had the recall done last week - no change whatsoever.
Just remember, back up your settings, as all mine were lost - pre-sets/seat memory etc etc. |

The only difference I think Ive noticed is that the heater fan seems to be blowing faster for the same setting. |

I have a late Sept 2018 M5 (none comp) and have decided to wait until the 3 year service next year before doing this. If I do lose pops/bangs then it wont matter as I plan to get the car over to Evolve so these can be programmed back in. I don't want to risk it just yet and as its not dangerous I'm just keeping a low profile! lol

Would/should I have waited? Maybe, but a recall is a recall and having just had the two year (since build) service, I decided to go for it. Mine is s non-comp Oct 2018 build with OPF. |

I don't have mine anymore but I did have an email from the stealer explaining nothing would change with the sound of the car after any warranty work etc, I got this every time I dropped the car off for any work just in case!

Do you non-comp M5 owners gets pops and bangs whilst revving in Neutral in Sports+ mode? I don't. In fact I don't get any pops or bangs. 2018 model with sports exhaust.

Yeah it sounds bassier in Sports+ and burbles when you let off the throttle but there are no pops and bangs at all. Maybe the update will actually improve the sound of my car!

Can anyone share what iDrive version the recall updates to?
I don't seem to be included in the recall, my M5C is build date Jan 2019 and I haven't heard a sausage! I've only got the cc message for an oil change due. I did get the idrive updated last Jan for the TPMS issue that wanted 44psi, maybe that update fixed this fuel tank vent issue also??? |

I didn't hear anything, but knew about it from here.
When I booked my car in to have a faulty telematics unit looked at, they told me it had a recall due, so they did that at the same time as they fixed the fault.
