You are a part of the problem with forums, can't ask a questions without having dicks like you!
Oh here we go. Trust me man, you don't want to discuss financials with me. I make less than you do but I'm in no way am I in financial trouble. Remember you live in NY. I live in TN. I make double what the typical salary is here. By no means am I rich, but I'm very comfortable. I'm also not on a BMW forum asking about unemployment, then later trying to sound like a big dog. Show some accountability for yourself. Making 6 figures doesn't make you anything in my opinion. An education doesn't make you smart and making 100k/year doesn't make you wealthy......obviously.

I'm part of the problem with forums? Interesting. I get along with most everyone, but you....you I will make an exception with. You just put a cross hair in the middle of your own forehead.

Seems like you already have enough problems without creating more for yourself. I'd focus on income and stay off the internet.

https://lmgtfy.com/?q=can+you+file+f...our+second+job

since i doubt you will do this since its the 4th search result....

Q: Can I file a claim if I lost my full-time work, but still work part-time?

A: Yes, if you work less than four days in a week and earn $504 or less, you may receive partial benefits. When you file your UI claim:

You will be asked to enter the date of your last day worked. Enter the last day you physically reported to work, regardless of whether this was your part-time or full-time work.
You will also be asked to enter information about your last or most recent employer. The last or most recent employer is where you most recently reported to work, regardless of whether this was your part-time or full-time employer. If it was your part-time employer, and you will continue to work part-time, enter "lack of work" as the reason for separation.

Since you are making just shy of 6 figures, im gonna guess you are making more than $504 a week. Unless "Just shy" means $75k less to you.

Yeah there's no way losing a second income will qualify for unemployment.

If you lose a $100k a year job and are unable to find another one and must work at a Wendy's for $10 an hour, the government considers you to be no longer unemployed.

This is why the unemployment numbers are really meaningless, because so many people who lost their jobs previously are really considered underemployed now, but the government considers it as unemployment is improving even if you take a minimum wage job to replace your real job.

Aren't BMW folks nice and helpful people?

I'd take unemployment for winters. I think I did that for 5 or something like that. Construction stuff in frozen ground country does that.

But here in MN there is also and underemployed section the the UI payments. I don't recall exactly what it is but I want to say the hours worked cutoff was something like over 32 hrs worked you wouldn't get paid. But is work was slow and you put in less than 32 you could collect some. I never fell into that group so I've no clue how much or how exactly it worked.
I mention this because the hours worked might have played in to the working 2 job thing. Depends on how they look at it. If it's from an average pay per hour or if it's as treating them as 2 completely separate incomes. I mean taxes calls it all the same income and hours.

I'm not sure if MN has an income cap to draw UI. I know there is a max weekly pay you'll get and if you made more (pretax is 75% of takehome pay) you'd just max out. I know a handful of guys who'd made over $100K and got UI.

Timing is utter shit. But you know this. Oddly enough though there is a thing called backpay. Not sure on a time limit though.
But TBH, I am kinda curious on an actual answer to your question.

ALSO, I think it's pretty asinine to think 6 figures is a fortune for an income. For one, where you live plays a HUGE role here. If you're in San Fran, $100,000 is poverty level. But if you're in West Virginia, you must own half the state.

To be fair, if you live in Manhattan, most middle level employees make 6 figures and still live in 500 sq ft apartments. But I get where people are apprehensive or unsympathetic. FWIW, the best information came on the first page, which is not great news for OP.

I still lost income too!
We need to start an options trading thread.

This thread delivers.

As for the OP, you are what is wrong with the country. You still make decent money (albeit, you live in NYC, which has a high cost of living, but you could easily overcome that by taking your kids out of private school), but you want more government handouts.

Not surprised, either, that some of the folks that are telling you that you should still get benefits are some of the biggest leftists on this forum. WTF happened to "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" JFK was a democrat.....how far has that party fallen from his ideals.

Holy hell, how did I just find this thread. How can anyone dumb enough to think losing a side gig but still being fully employed making almost 6 figures can get unemployment Business intelligence This is almost too damn funny to be true. To the OP... I should not have to pay for you being an idiot and overextending yourself, you definitely do not deserve any money from the government. Making me feel all underpaid now....

You can always file for unemployment but that doesn't mean you'll get it.
They take everything into consideration especially the income that you're still making. Once you reach a limit, you're not getting anything.

For instance, if you lost your main source of income but you still own a rental property and you're making $3K a month. You will not get unemployment.

Also, if you were fired from a company and the company choose to fight your claim and said it was through your own fault you were dismissed, you will not get unemployment.

Unemployment benefit is just enough to get you food and basic necessities. It's not meant to help supplement your BMW car payment.
