Spent about 2000 miles with both V1G2 and R7 detectors wired up simultaneously (yea, I know this can cause some interference but wanted to see if I could observe true head to head differences). Also another 1000 on each independently.
V1G2 consistently alerts Ka earlier than the R7 by 3-5 seconds. V1G2 falses to gesture control laser with obnoxious frequency to the point I disabled laser. R7 has yet to false alert laser, but agree with posters above that laser detection is just a novelty unless you have a jammer. Arrows seem slightly more accurate with better persistence on the V1G2, but not significant enough to matter. Had several false Ka alerts with the V1G2 where the R7 was quiet. Integration with JBV1 app on the V1G2 is kind of cool, but for me is not a huge selling point. V1G2 is a much smaller profile. Ultimately I think I’ll return the V1G2, which is really disheartening as I’ve owned the first gen V1 for about 15 years. If the R7 had a slimmer profile and a Bluetooth app then it would no contest. |

Reason being is if it's rear laser, the only way you'll pick up scatter is if a car behind you or yourself is getting hit, at which point you've either already passed the threat or you've been nailed. No in between a when it comes to laser unless you have a jammer. |

I’m using a V1 Gen2 and I’m not having this issue with the rear facing sensor. Could it be where it’s positioned? My V1 is placed low and close to the dash behind the iDrive screen nearer the windshield.

Possibly that could be it but ideally it should be mounted as high as possible. Thx

Why not just install front and rear laser jammers on the car from ALP and use black tape on the V1 rear sensor?

A little late to the party, but purchased the V1G2 and guess how I found this thread? LOL. I'm having the exact same issue. When the V1G2 is mounted to the windshield under the rear view mirror (a logical place for most people), the rear laser alert goes off non-stop. Unusable. I tried playing with the placement of the V1G2 and when it was up near the visor on the passenger side, there were no false rear laser alerts. However, that would require a power cable running from the 12V cig lighter up to the passenger visor (haven't looked into permanent solutions yet). I haven't learned how to program the V1G2 yet to disable the laser, but I might try that, although I would rather they all just work they way they are supposed to.
