M5C vs C8 Z51 from dig

Recorded from inside C8. Little less than quarter mile.

You can hear the wheelspin on the Vette. Get rid of that and I think the Vette takes the M5C.

The M5 continued to pull in the vette the entire run. Wheelspin or not - the M5 is faster.

Pricewise, the fair race would be a ZR1 vs M5C.
The Z51 is literally half the price of a M5C.

Appears to be slower here. In the end, shitty drivers are generally going to produce shitty results.

Everything I have read shows the 0-60 and quarter mile times to be very close, but with the M5 going a few mph faster at the end of the quarter. Seems like under ideal traction conditions to benefit the RWD C8, the cars are within a few tenths of a second up to about 120. Run to 150, and the M5 is over 3 seconds quicker according to the tests I read.

Not so sure about that...

This one in the video faired better than the ones i've ran against.

The ones i've ran didn't even do that well off the line, but the pull away was very similar, but every time ive ran one, Im able to get off the line and get at least a 1/2-1 car right away, then continue to pull.

I do have racechip on my 19 comp, which makes a difference but not enough to help the vette if I didn't have it....

And I don't know if thats wheel spin. The c8's hook up pretty good. The noise your hearing (in my opinion) is a weird feedback or reverb from the camera as you can hear before they start the race also.

car n driver gets paid by gm. they say the c8 has a 2.8sec 0-60.. yea right.

they also give it a 10/10 When we all know that center console is a mess to look at, and use

And it's a 2 seater so by practicality alone its not a 10/10

What you got there is some BS

A perfect launch in the M5 merely equals a perfect launch in the Corvette. The M5 does not have any advantage under perfect conditions until about 120 mph. But in the real world conditions often are not perfect and the AWD of the M5 will help it put the power down under more situations.

Agree..Horrid launch by the M5. If they held launch control longer than 2 seconds that thing spun, bogged, and dumped it into 2nd gear.

The vette trapped 117mph in that video, it's not beating an f90 even if it was on slicks.

Wait until the ZR1 vs M5C races come.
That's the "fair" race since they're priced equally.

My guess is the ZR1 will beat the LCI M5C because it has 850 HP.
But the upcoming/new M5 will likely beat the ZR1 if the HP rumors are true.

All that power is useless if it can't get traction. Ask all those Dodge Demon owners!

I have a '20 C8 Z51 and '21 M5. The M5 is faster than the C8 in a straight line.

The C8 is RWD but is mid-engine which helps with traction. They may be making a AWD version, electric motor driving the front.

The only time the C8 is going to be better is in rough pavement due to the mag ride, which is incredible, or in the curves.

Get ready to place an order.
This video was "teased" by Corvette earlier this year.
You can clearly see the front wheels spinning away in the snow.

If they make a ZR1 hybrid, it will probably beat the latest M5.
