I agree with the member below. It really depends on how you treat the tires. Iv personally driven on 200 tread wear Falken Azenis RT615's for over 35k miles and they are almost about to hit the safety line. But I drive like a grandma...

My RFT's lasted me 20,000 miles before it blew up on me on the fwy.
And I drove with these tires everyday of the week everywhere!

Even though they are very expensive

They last a long time

P.S. When they blew up, only the rears did, the front I had another 10,000 miles left.

The range is pretty wide. I am guessing I will get 20,000 out of mine but will know for sure in a few months. Been thinking about the PS2's but am tempted to go conventional. I drive about 23k per year so I need a better treadwear rating than 180.

7,500 miles on my Bridgestone set from new and left front is already bald on its outside edge. Inside edges of the rears are nearly bald as well.

With a 170 treadwear rating, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I have a favorite on-ramp and I am known to be hard on my tires. For fairness, I should mention 0.8 negative front and 1.5 negative rear camber

Probably will have to replace my tires soon, but I will NOT, or never will, buy Michelins. So maybe this is an excuse to also get a set of these:

Check tire pressure, then think about having the alignment checked.

I got 14K on the original BRICKStones. Switched to the Conti RFT and I'm just to 50K and need new fronts because I didn't keep up with the alignment. The rears might have another 7500 on them. I'm starting the search again. Since the wife drives it during the week, I'm probably staying RFT.

My Conti SSR run flats lasted 36K and I probably could have pushed them to 40K as the outside still had a bit left. I was just worried that the inside might warn and from what I've seen, 36K is very good.

I lot of people ignore the fact that your tires/brakes are by far the most important element in your safety. Many people don't hesitate spending thousand of dollars on look but they don't consider safety factor when it comes to tires.

By that I don't mean that the most expensive tire is the safest tire but usually cheap tires don't give you as much grip espicailly on wet surface. So I suggest you should check Tire Rack's ratings.

I used PS2 first time on my Merc 5 years ago. Since than it has been my only choice. Yes, they are expensive but PS2 is the benchmark in this category

The fact is that there are many safe, good performing tires on the market. All tires have to compromise performance in one condition or another. For instance ultra performance summer tires have less ability in wet conditions while all season performance tires are superior in wet conditions but give up some traction in dry conditions. The PS2 happens to be an excellent tire and Michelin has found a nice balance that performs well in most conditions. There are many tires on the market that perform well some are very expensive some are not. I am putting Vredestiens on my car. They happen to be inexpensive but in several tests in Europe that have out performed the PS2. At 170 each they are also a bargain. I will post a review on them once I get a 1000 miles on them. Every first hand report I have read on them so far has been universally positive.
