Cant make a decision-Need Help
Hello Everyone,
I am currently trying to decide between getting a new M5 Competiton package fully optioned or a 2018 M3 Competition fully optioned with all M performance interior and exterior parts and M performance exhaust. A little background I'm 21 years old, no wife, no kids. I love both cars but can't make my mind up over which one I should get as a daily. The M5 would be ordered as a 2020 M/Y and individual paint, M3 is at the dealer with only delivery miles on it, but once all the parts are put on it comes to be around the price of the of an M5. Also dealer is offering an M3 CS in San Marino Blue fully optioned for $110k, im just leary on using a CS as a daily driver. Thanks much! |

What state are you in? Do you need AWD? You should be able to get a much larger discount on the M3 or M3 CS than the M5.
Have you driven both?

Wow when I was 21 I could barely afford a Civic.
Get a NEW M4. Coop is nicer and more your stage in life car. Leave the sedans for the old guys. LOL. Mike |

I'm located in Illinois and have driven both. My conundrum is simply which one is best all around. Both have immense amounts of power.

I owned almost every M3 with MT because I am huge MT fan
And I owned F90 M5 and I have to say its just different animal. Didn't look or sound good so most likely you have to mode. M5 is just wicked fast specially after tuning. For a track M3/4 is better car as far as cornering goes. But I have seen M5 beats M3 lap times too ( depends what track ) I sold mine M5 because I am waiting for G80 M3 to use it for track If I would be you wait for new M3 you can also get it as AWD too

God bless you for being in such a position at your age.
At 21, M5 or even M3 may be dangerous. 1. M5 - AWD. NEVER put it in TWO WHEEL DRIVE MODE unless the roads are dry. The nannies are all OFF and the car is dangerous. Period. 21 years old, wet road, 600plus hp, traction control off, deadly. 2. M3 currently just RWD. I think the traction control is always on (like the M2 I had for a couple years, traction control just gets turned down a bit when its in sport? Chime in if you know for sure others here.) 3. The new M3/M4 will have AWD. Again, consider a NEW M4 with the AWD. Nice coop. Chick magnet. (21 year old in M5, assumed to be dad's or mom's car, so not so magnetic. Yes assumed....but reasonable assumption.) Mike (get the M5)

Get the CS, but get around 20% off.
I've got a CS and absolutely love it. I just test drove the M5 Comp during the M Town event and was really surprised to see that the M5C suspension was much stiffer and the ride was actually rougher. Dealers are working hard to unload the remaining M3 CS. Plus, they are limited edition (only 1,207 made). Sure, they won't hold value in the short term, but long term they will be keepers and highly sought after.

I was shocked how firm the M5C was. I had the F10 M5 with comp pack and loved how comfortable it was. This new M5 is totally different.

2) I'm saying it is a firmer ride than the M3 CS. 3) I still want an M5 Comp.

I absolutely love it as a daily driver! Granted, my commute is only about 4 miles each way.
I grab the keys to the CS almost any chance I can.

Glad to hear! I live in Illinois, how would the CS fair in harsh conditions with the proper tires of course?

I do want to state, and have made posts in both the F80 and G80 M3 boards. If the new M3 does not fair well and BMW doesnt listen to it's most loyal customers, its going to tell me as to how they will change the M5 into some ugly machine like they are doing with the G80. Now I'm also looking at AMG both the C63S Sedan and E63S. I hate saying this but BMW just doesnt care about its customers wants anymore.
