where did you see that this is Russian? Anyhow, this particular LSD has been discussed here already. People bought it. 4 or 5 been sold to USA customers. I suggest you find that thread and reach out to those who got the LSD.

I barely skimmed the post... What did people have to say about the performance?

Instead of posting this comment you could educate me on how the diff performed... Or post a passive aggressive comment.

All I know is that few went into small AT bolted diffs and two into large MT welded diffs. I have no idea how the LSD was mounted into the large MT welder diffs. It has been few months and no one has complained yet. This company build LSD for professional drifters that compete. I was interested but let it go after not being able to find out how was this LSD was installed into MT large welded diff. Installation into bolted AT small diff has been covered. Manufacturer didn't know either. I reach out to them and was told that they just sold the parts. They can do it but need to send them the diff.

Your title is offensive. On many levels. Is neither sketchy nor Russian. I would suggest you delete this tread or at least change the title.

As for the Russian comment: sorry for offending you.... the LSD is coming from Serbia, a Eastern European country that was previously run by a Communist party. Again, a joke about the social generalizations of all Ex-communist Eastern European countries being part of the USSR. My humor obviously went above both of your heads, I'm not deleting the thread, hope to see some first hand info on the LSD. :

Sux that politics and ignorance has to mix in this forum. And that’s how votes are made...
And then there is a paradox. Sketchy LSD and OP is interested. There are plenty of other good options, why not go for tried and true and skip the unknown and God forbid anything from the Eastern block. Last edited by Yozh; 11-10-2017 at 11:42 PM.. |

This is cheap, and from what they say it sounds good.
So what is different about it and makes it cheap? Does it work differently? The internals look completely different to the other 335i LSDs so it's obviously different to the other known ones. Also it says "clutch type", so I guess clutch material wears. Id there any info on longevity and servicing this? |

Politics and melting snowflakes aside, I'm trying to understand the mechanics here. eBay picture 5/8 shows the discs outboard on each side of the heavy plates and springs in the middle. The springs remind me of an Auburn built 8-3/4 Chrysler built LSD. When I think of a clutch type LSD, my 9-3/4 Dana 60 comes to mind. It is specifically called a Powerloc for those googling out there. The discs are replaceable on the Dana. The Auburn wears and internal metal parts are replaced when it's worn out. I'm not saying this Serbian one is indeed like the Auburn but it seems similar. That eBay pic 5/8 doesn't look like abrasive clutch material rings. Maybe it's the picture.
Last thing to ponder is if the discs are indeed wearing and produce a fine silt in the bottom of the case, this needs to be flushed out and changed out every 30,000 miles. The Dodge truck I have has a 9-1/4 with this same clutch setup as the 9-3/4 Dana I mention above. I pull the pan and clean all that debris and silt out with spray cleaner and reseal. I say this as it isn't practical to pull pan every time we change fluid on our 188 (or 215) BMW diffs. Only thing can be done is to purge and drain the crap if you're one of the few that had a drain plug put in (Yozh). Even then, I don't think you'll get it out like I can by wiping with lint free cloth and then spraying. The E9x M3 diff has a factory drain of course and is also clutch type. Not sure if it's able to be cleansed either. My point of this novel is to look at the gear type LSDs in regard to ease of maintenance. I only hate that I didn't get the drain plug put in. I know someone who does this now as Yozh used his services. It's all turn key in terms of the welded diff getting cut and machined for bolting in the Wavetrac and doing the drain plug. Whitbread Performance is the guy to go to. He was recently banned. PM me if his name is blocked out. Last edited by BB_cuda; 11-14-2017 at 11:23 AM.. |
