What. The. Hell.
What's advertised is "...surround sound audio system uses vehicle-specific equalizing...". What you get is extra speakers and nothing more. Are you 100% sure there isn't a single menu in there that accesses any more functions? I'm not second-guessing you, just double-checking the source. I wish we had access to a PDF version of the owner's manual. If this is the case, BMW is not giving what you're paying for in this H/K package. |

Seems quite weak without the rear seat side panel speakers and no EQ. Sound is nice but overpriced for the M235. 335i same price for HK has more speakers and I believe the EQ.

False advertising! Four on the rear shelf, four on the doors/pillars, two subs under seats & two in center dash = 12 speakers.

Hmm interesting. My 2010 335d with Harmon kardon has L7 tuning and eq settings. My 2012 X5d also with Harmon kardon does not have L7 but has eq setting under tones. Same price for the option in both cars. I wonder if BMW pulled another fast one and changed the option. If so that's a shame.

I spoke to a BMW engineer who happened to be at my dealer and he was quite surprised as I was to discover the HK system being somewhat crippled in features compared to other HK systems. He's in touch with BMW and hopes to have some answers for me tomorrow.

I hope the news is good! I have to say there is a night and day difference between HK with L7 and HK without L7. Hopefully they can enable L7.. unless it has a hardware requirement.

I agree, otherwise I wouldn't pay $875 just for upgraded speakers. If there is no fix my sales guy is going to request some kind of credit to me. BMW clearly messed up on the HK specs on the system for the M235, namely the 12 speakers instead of the 16 its advertised with.

I believe there are 7 (2 doors, 2 rear deck, 2 subs and 1 mid in dash)

Just dashed off a e mail to BMW genius requesting clarification on the 12 vs 16 issue. My 128 has 12.

so to help you out a bit on the EQ. I have a 2012 328i with the tech package and HK. I didnt have this either at first until i activated it via E-sys coding. Now i have all of the options and even have the L7 slider.
Im really hoping you report back that the M235 has the L7 at least. I know i can turn on the EQ via coding so not really worried about that.. hope that helps. |
