Does anyone know how to view the number on launches on your car using ISTA+ or Esys?

Per BMW Bellevue albeit some time ago, you can't.

PS: I also know two highly experienced coders and neither of them knows how to view it. I suspect it's simply not exposed through the ECU.

I’ve only done 5 launches but I’ve noticed that when the car warms up properly, with the transmission in the sportiest setting (3), it doesn’t crack any more on the shift, it’s actually shifting like in the middle setting (2).

Do you think I’ve damaged something in the gearbox or might be facing some premature wear of some sort? Maybe I should look at getting the TCU reset or something?

Has anybody else faced anything similar? I don’t really care about engaging LC anymore but would hate losing the good shifts.

So my bad...
I changed my BM3 map to the Stage 1 93 octane map and forgot to toggle the option that accounts for the OPF delete. So it seems all reading from all ECU's are intertwined and affect even the gear shifting...

Good thing is that crack on upshifts is back on the level3 shifts... I wont be doing many LC's anyway so I should be safe!

Is the dealer able to pull the count?

No. Only the BMW Corp tech was.

I used launch control on my X5MC for the first time today and it was like my brain slid to the back of my skull for a half second or so. I let off about halfway through second gear.
It was an interesting experience.

Interesting?!? I have to resist the urge to use it every time I'm at a traffic light. 0-30 in 1 sec is almost as fun as a 1/4 mile especially when you're racing a Sienna… yes, you read that right. Minivan Moms are hilariously passive aggressive.

Ok so I finally read this whole thread and have some interesting input. I have a 2021 f90 bmw m5comp. In Australia, December 2020 build. I’ve done approximately 20 launches on it (including a couple in the break in period, whoops!) and it has never ever changed gear from 1st to second and from second to 3rd when using launch control, as fast it does under normal WOT from 3rd to 4th in M1 which I have set as 3/3 auto transmission speed and 3/3 engine response.

Under normal wot in m1 it changes from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th so fast you would think it’s a dual clutch, it’s basically instant.

But when I launch it there is a definite small change time between 1-2-3. Enough that the car noticeably bucks.

So someone try make sense of that for me!

Describe your launch prep: settings, process, etc.

M1 which is auto3, engine3. Put it in manual mode with the shifter. Hold dsc for like 5 seconds till it goes off. Stand on brake, floor accelerator, flags show, wait 1-2 seconds to build boost and drop brake. Hold foot to the floor. That’s it

I still get 3.04 0-100 and 10.81 quarter mile times completely stock. So I’m not really upset about it. But the transmission is definitely slower than it can be when launching it

Got it. Yeah. Nothing to add—you're obviously nailing the process. Sorry, no help here.

LC shifts are indeed different from the normal S3 shifts. Instead of that crisp upshift the LC shifts feel like they slingshot you forward. It feels like there's a big gap during shifts for sure. Idk if your car got the full burble tune but on NA cars the normal S3 shifts gives a crisp snap from the exhaust, but LC shifts don't have that. So the "bucking" you feel from the LC shifts is probably what I'm describing here-it's deliberately programmed that way and I've always thought that the LC shifts allows the car to go through the gears quicker.

It feels more like it’s bucking from a moment of no torque tbh
