Very well documented. Kids have been knocking on restroom door for a long time now

Very much inspired for another US trip by this. Oh, in 2018 my trip from Denmark to Nürburgring, Carcassone in southern France, on to Andorra, the N260 to Pamplona and San Sebastian, Biarritz, France on the Atlantic coast and back via Paris was 5,000 kilometers. In only 6 days in my 2018 M3C. O if the Alps are to crowding, try the Pyrenees. Coffee, chorizo - HIT IT!

"I sent this photo to some friends asking if an inflation mousse kit would fix it!!"

As they say in the accident posts: Yeah, that'll buff out.

That sounds incredible

How did you find the M3?

As we can appreciate driving with wife and kids is a certain dynamic...

blasting from London to Lake Garda in a group of 991.1 manuals and an R8 V10 with an M5 as a chase car would be mildly different.

Well, which is it?!?

Wait. Don't answer....that's a whole 'nother thread.

But, I will say the LCI Comp ride, even in Sport, is way, way better than the pre-LCI Base in Comfort.

M3 was at a dealer in Germany. Fully loaded and only made once in Maledives Blue as an '18 M3. Drove 400 miles just to check out the color. 4 hours later SOLD. Love grey cars, but this is sooo... fresh and different. Garda and San Sirmione is TOP. Driving thru Dolomites was last year along with a GT2 - we should meet😅! Slovenia next. Now back to topic👍

No, but I wanted to go to Natural Bridges National Monument - that was a long day and it would have added several hours. Would have gone right through Moki Dugway - but I just didn't feel like taking a brand new M5 over gravel roads (even a couple miles). Now you can see a C8 Corvette in a picture at the overlook if you google it - didn't look any the worse for wear....but, still. But sites both looked awesome. I take it you have made the trek.

Alas, some bittersweet news. I no longer have the Donington. Some ticky tacky issues were bugging me and I went and test drove a 2021 LCI M5 Comp. I now have this at home, and it is truly spectacular.

Can't wait to get back on the road again in 2021.
I think what really happened is Visit Utah (the Utah Office of Tourism) saw this post and gifted you a 2021 M5.

Very nice of photos of a very nice drive. Thanks for sharing.

Hahahaha. That's funny.

Although, the wife's X3 is getting a little long in the tooth at 40,000 miles. So, if Utah wants to donate an X3M, I might consider seeing some other things on another road trip.

I did ~10,000 miles of insterstate driving this summer... it was a little scary, but I just chose not to think about it until it was an issue — i wasn't going to let it stop me from making a trip. If you're super nervous, go buy an extra wheel and tire for the trip. I never had an issue with it

Love, love, LOVE this trip. I just did part of that in my road trip journal I just completed. (see my signature). And I'm planning on doing the rest of everything you show on my next road trip, including Arches. Well done, sir! I look forward to reading whatever your next road trip is as well.

Thank you. Great part of the country. Are you going to drive back down when Canada lets you pass thru?

I just wandered over to your thread, and............jezus.......23 pages and 3 hours later I managed to finish. Man, did I get sucked in! Been to all those places except Oklahoma and New Mexico - over the course of several individual trips. Even Anchorage. Yours is truly epic.

I head out on Tuesday for an 2000 mile loop thru eastern Oregon, including Wallowa Lake, the Palouse in SE Washington, on through McCall ID and then Hell's Canyon. My inspiration is from bwhip on the M2 forum. (Great pics, great roads, great stories)

BTW, how did you stumble onto this thread? It's been quiet for 4 months.

I most certainly will be coming through Canada, whether it's when they ease the border restrictions, or the next time I drive something up to here

If you write about your trip, I'd love to read. Thanks for coming to my thread too! I ended up here actually, reading white2abbit 's epic road trip journal that was on the front Bimmerpost news page, and he references your journal in his.

Absolutely fantastic! Driving your M5 in such a nice company and in so special roads and surrounded with that fantastic nature! Amazing! I went carefully thorough all your post! I've absolutely loved it! Your explanations and details are for me the achievement of a lifetime! Like this experiences are probably some of the best things we do in our lives don't you think? Fantastic! I'm curious about where you were overnight. Was just something you planned day by day or how that can be handled considering some of the roads you've been through seems like pure desert. I mean with not a lot of availability for rest i guess. Regarding your car is truly a powerful weapon for the roads that will never let you down! So gorgeous car and the color! Love it. If you ever plan to come to Europe let me know. I would really like to meet you one day and perhaps if you come to Netherlands I can show you some nice places here and we can always head towards AutoBahn and meet some local M friends

Here's our most recent trip towards Alps with a few friends

Aw, thanks man. Glad you really enjoyed it. There is nothing better than a road trip. I planned it weeks in advance. Had reservations for each night. Depending on how much there is to see I usually try to keep each day under 300 miles. That's about 6 hours of driving and 3-4 hours to eat and look around or do things. But, I'll do 450-500 miles if I have to. It's never a problem.

There are some desolate stretches - maybe the most without ANYTHING is 30 miles. No matter where you are, someone is living there. Go figure.

I was following your recent trip on the thread by mjn77 . I am currently going thru the videos at the end. God, I hate you guys! Did a quick glance at yours and I gotta say I'll be back tomorrow to dive into it. Looks fantastic, especially the back half. Wow. Those passes. I became a huge Tour de France fan when they went with more helicopters and high def video and more coverage several years back. Their days in the Alps are fabulous to watch.

Thanks for tagging along.
