Getting very nervous about the rear taillights. Not liking that it's shaping out to be a rounded triangle...looking very Japanese.

Saw this test vehicle and a second in Garching driving around M headquarters last Tuesday. They sounded really good!

I ask that because usually, most product life cycles mean that once a new model is out, most support for old products are left to die (e.g. like what Microsoft does to legacy operating systems)

I think most automakers do that as well (?)...............except maybe for Porsche (which has extensive support for Classic models)
Of course...how do you think repairs are done?

Front wheels are 19", can't tell from the pics the rear size.

Front lens is prob night vision or pedestrian detection for drivers assist.

Surprised no one said the front lens can just simply be for adaptive cruise. High risk oil radiator seems to be back too

While I won't be getting one, the new 5 series and especially the M5 have me very curious how it'll turn out. Of all the cars BMW has now it's definitely the one that needs the most updating.

xDrive is likely to be offered the next gen or LCI. Not for this version.

If this car is 300lbs lighter and doesn't burn "motor" oil, I'll buy an M5 again.

I hope not, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Of course it will.

Every other new BMW product coming out has it. The spy shots for the G30 5 series that this is based off shows that it has it as well. How can you not think that this car wouldn't?

Off topic, but I don't believe Microsoft does this... In fact, they support legacy products the longest out of most tech companies since they also support the backbones of most large institutions.

Ok... now back on topic.

Looks like what I would expect.

The brake vents on the front look large and kinda resemble the M2 openings behind that camo.

I'd be curious to find out if the rear tyre is another 295/35/19 which would give the car the same size tyres as the current M5.

The tires on this mule are interesting. Same sizes as the F10 but smaller than a few earlier mules. The ADVAN Sport V105 is a VERY good and often overlooked tire. The only drawback with them on a current F1X M5/6 is their acoustics. MPSS and PZero are already difficult to hear with the windows up when pushing the car. The Yoko's are even quieter but these are BMW spec prototypes with detail data removed so they are most likely designed with more limit noise like the Conti's and latest MPSS release.

It's the same engine from the current f10 M5 so it wouldn't surprise me... That to me is much more upsetting tbh...
