Since you did the Rocky Mountains now is the perfect time for the Smokey Mountains. The colors are starting to look great now too.
Oh, man. Bucket list. I went from Knoxville to Gatlinburg thru the Smokies to Cherokee and Asheville and beyond. But it was in July. Gotta do the Blue Ridge Pkwy and Tail of the Dragon. I'd like to do a PCD pickup in Spartanburg next time, do all that and then drive across country back home some September.

hoo wee.

I am almost certain I saw you on highway 12 as I was returning from my 4,062 mile round trip from Seattle to Colorado and back! Not a lot of f90 m5 comps… I was in the blue OG M2 if you happened to see us.

Honestly, this journal Makes me want to plan a trip with my E90 M3. It's not as luxurious as the M5 in terms of comfort for long trips but I have seen it be done.

This is something I am strongly contemplating come spring.

I'm going to start researching a nice scenic route, maybe not as lengthy as yours but we shall see. These cars are meant to be driven and they do it damn well.

Enjoy the car in good health, the M5 is damn lucky to have an owner that took it on such a journey!

Cheers to many more years with the beautifully designed M5

I was born in Idaho Falls, and lived there until I was about 9. A lot of family still out there. I miss tubing on the Snake for our family reunions. Still don't know how I survived

I remember snowmobiling in Yellowstone back then with my uncles, my dad, and a few other folks. I was near the back following my dad, when they went a little off the path. My dad disappeared straight down into the snow with his snowmobile about 20 yards ahead of me. He crawled out, and yelled, "Don't go this way!!" I'll never forget that

I really took all the fishing, hiking, and skiing (Sun Valley no less) for granted back then. It's wild thinking back to how much the Rockies dominated the landscape and skyline. Now I'm in Jersey…

Thanks for the write up, and great pics!!
