Fair review, IF, you just literally finish filming a 911 GT3 RS. M5 was never intended to compete with such a car or transmit a similar experience.

Exactly. More of a 'seat of the pants' review but not really professional, IMO. He did not acknowledge he was reviewing a completely different type of car than the GT3 and it felt like that prior review heavily influenced his review of this car, which is a shame. My comp has never felt 'battleshippy' to me....but I bet it would after driving a frikkin GT3RS immediately prior. lol. Totally different cars.

It's a bit disingenuous to harp on the M5 for being heavy at 4200lbs. The M5 is the lightest vehicle in its segment, and weighs hundreds of pounds less than the E63 S, its primary competition. If 4200lbs automatically disqualifies a car for someone, then they simply aren't going to like any vehicle in the class. Yes, compared it to a 911 GT3 RS it's heavy. Just about every car is heavy compared to a 911 GT3 RS. Compared to vehicles it actually competes with, it's light. That would be a much more useful review.

He didn't do launch control right. That's why his launch was so "uneventful". Didn't take traction control off.

I like Matt, but this was not one of his best reviews, especially considering he just came off a fresh GT3RS review. The steering could use more feedback, but overall the car is super fast with a lot of balance of sport/luxury/comfort. Call it a more mature/executive-level M5C, I guess.
Personally, I'm planning to get into a GT3 after the M5C and it's then I'll enjoy all the things the M5C is not (because it's not supposed to be).

Matt seems like the kind of guy I'd like to have a beer or two with.

M5 has its own class so it weighs accordingly. This is not a track oriented car...it serves that purpose though. Like a PCA instructor told me his 911 Turbo 6MT is just a touring car, not a track car..lol. I only enjoy Doug Demuro reviews just to see all the features in new cars...and cut him when he goes to Doug Score, useless. |

What feel is he looking for in any other super sports sedan? (His last comment towards the end of the video).
I get the feeling the 911 GT3 RS may have given him some bias.

I Have both the M5c and .2 GT3RS , so I can see where he is coming from
but to be fair, I think his review was for the most part accurate steering feel can be better even for a big sedan sound should be better Last edited by M3PGH; 09-27-2019 at 08:32 PM.. |
