if you've ever tracked a car hard, you'll understand that 10 minutes into a session, your hands/arms will get very tired.

Anyone have any input regarding the stock brake pads on the base M5?
I am an addicted track rat with dedicated sports / track cars, but I do plan to take the M5 out to VIR once it gets here to hopefully embarrass some cars. Are the stock pads adequate? |

I only tracked her twice but the pads have held up just fine. No discernable fade either.

Got it. So far, I'm finding that, on the street at least, the lightness of the wheel in comfort makes it more difficult to be smooth in hard cornerning, as the wheel wants to turn too easily and I'm constantly making small corrections. In his review, Clarkson alluded to the new M5 having some weird steering traits due to BMW trying to remove understeer from the car. I do agree that driving in Sport is a bit more tiring, even on the road.

My '18 with steel OE brakes had 14.5 hours of on track time at WGI, and almost a year of street driving before I had to replace.
They worked fantastically on the track. Rears will burn out first with heavy track time if you leave the DSC on. They are constantly pinching back and forth under heavy load to keep the rear end straight. |

So update, it is supposedly going to rain pretty heavily the day I track the car, I checked the roster list and I think I'm the only person with a awd/4wd vehicle lol

Rainy track days are the best. I've learned the most and had the most fun on wet tracks.

I just got my new rear set today because it is true that they wear much faster than the front ones and I still have one more track day this season on Monday.

The F90 M5 is a pretty insane tool on the track and will give a hard time to Porsche GT3 RS guys if you know what you are doing. The standard oem brakes are great and have very little fade after laps of annihilating the brake pedal. Keep everything in sport plus including the steering... the steering sport plus setting is there for a good reason and you will find the car is easier to control during violent cornering. The suspension can be set to sport or sport plus depending on how good the track surface is.. the traction control needs to be fully off in 4wd mode unless you want to goof around, then you can leave it in 4wd sport. Make sure to have plenty of warm up and cool down laps as things will start getting very hot... starting cold tire pressure for perelis is good around 32psi... keep monitoring the left front tire as it gets much hotter than others on most tracks, start the cool down once you hit around 95 degrees C. Also note that there is a delay between what the idrive shows you and the actual tire temperature! Have a blast and most importantly show the lighter more nimble cars who is the 2 ton boss on the track!
