I recommend ENET solution as it will future proof you, in case vehicle software gets updated to P or higher.

Alternative would be convincing dealership to update software to X so you could simply code via BImmercode or E-sys.
Thanks. Is the map update at the dealership also the system update? I'm down in south Texas and I don't have much confidence in the dealership's ability to do anything as the dealership is pretty ghetto. I was considering purchasing the connected drive package that includes map updates since all my subscriptions are expired and I bought the car used. If I get the $150 connected drive package that includes map updates, rtti, apps, and remote services will that update the software as well?

Map updates are separate from system update.

I am not sure whether CD package includes system updates; maybe someone else can chime in or you can check with BMW directly.

After having a few loaner BMWs with full screen CarPlay, I have been wanting to add that to my car (2019 M5C). I contacted Vic, who did the coding for the LCI Tailights, and he said he was going to get back to me and let me know if my car was compatible. I did not hear back and then saw this thread the other day and figured the worst that could happen is I am out $70 for the adapter and software. I tried it tonight and was thrilled that in just a few minutes of following RobRed's directions, I had full screen CarPlay! Thank you RobRed!!!

What other interesting features do people commonly add with BimmerCode? I did change my speed limit sign to the Euro circle and put in the Rolls Royce sounds but that was it so far.

Has anyone figured out a way to code fullscreen for Android auto? You can kind of do this by forcing a lower resolution in AA developer settings, but it would be way better to have Fullscreen in the native resolution.

I had kubax86 code fullscreen Apple Carplay in my 2018 F90. It was easy and about $50. He'll send you a file that you put on a thumb drive and then plug into your car and bam, done. He has a website bimmer-remote.com.

I connected my iPad to my car using ENET and Bimmercode. My questions is will I be able to program the Car Play to Full screen if my NBTevo is NBTevo_Y21432J? Currently its at the default setting.

Once I coded it, on the right of the CarPlay screen I just get a white box. Same results on my '19 M5 and my wife's '19 X3
Need to Update iStep, then you will be able to code Carplay to Full screen

I have my 2018 M5. Coded full screen through BimmerCode app myself. Worked like it supposed to. I honestly don't know what my software is car wet to the dealer once they have updated some softwares as they said some options I have coded remained some on the other hand I had to code again full screen CarPlay being one of them.

Is it possible on a 2019 to upgrade the iDrive software? Or is it not a possibility due to hardware and specs inside that "maybe" it is possible but not realistic or could slow down the responsiveness. Because sure it would be nice to update but if it's going to slow it down then just the full screen coding is fine with me.

Easy this time

FWIW I just purchased my 2019 M5C this month and updated to full screen CarPlay via bimmercode app using veespeak BT OBD. Head unit was X which bimmercode said was minimum. Worked on first try.

I had a totally different experience in March 2019 when I used this same OBD reader and bimmercode to try and do the same thing w my 2020 M2C. Had to go the paid route, use a windows machine and an ENET adapter etc. Worked perfectly for 3+ years but this time was waaaay easier.

I’m sure there are a number of variables at play here that I am not listing or fully appreciating, but this did not even require using the advanced menus in BimmerCode this time.

Other tweaks while I was in there included disabling ASD, confirming auto stop start to memory, changing sound of alarm chirps, disabling seatbelt reminder, setting default active cruise distance etc. Only thing I could not do with my relatively old reader is set up default driving mode arrangements. Went onto the BimmerCode website confirmed the reader was the issue and purchased a new one from Amazon for that purpose.
