Now i'm really impressed

My old e36 and e46 engines' power was very noticeably drained once I turned on the air conditioning to the point of being a little annoying. Even driveability was affected.

Not so with the e90 325. The weather has gone from winter to summer (without spring fot the past couple of weeks)so I started using the a/c of course. Not even a whisper of percievable power drain from the N52. No change to its drivability, nothing except a little higher idle revs. That's impressive and I am very happy. I can hear the a/c quietly engaging but that's all.

I must say that my wife's current model C180K exhibits exactly the same characteristics as my e90. No power drain at all.

Any comments?

I can't wait to get back to L.A. and see what it's like to drive without the AC on.

I agree, no real loss in power with the AC running.

This car has the best AC IMO. I like that I can set my side to what I like and my girlfriend (always cold) can set her side to what she wants. Very comfortable and no more arguments (at least on car temperature).

Kinda off topic.... i always wonder how these climate control really work. The air blowing from either side is difference but nothing separate them inside the cabin..... basically the air will get mixed up once they leave the vents, so how does climate control really work???

Well, thats easy to answer. I haven't got the foggiest idea and I have always thought that as well.

The split system was in my e36 so I asked myself exactly what you did. Then when I took delivery of the e46, I was kind of glad that there was one temp setting.

Now that we are back to two.....hey, maybe theres an optional extra passenger divider or maybe its how theclay tells it. Your gf is like my wife, always feels cold so we do set our temps differently.

I suppose its ok for front seat passengers with the direct air on them. but once the air mixes.....wait a minute now i remember. I read somewhere that the e90 splits the cabin air into two halves. Good news GST, the air in the e90 doesn't mix so its fine.

See how damn good the e90 has been engineered
