M tri color stitching and M tri color striping at the top. Should be a good looking wheel!!
That sounds amazing! Similar to mine, I love it. Please post pictures when it arrives! Let me know if you have any questions with installation. It was pretty straight forward after watching a few YouTube videos.

I used to have the steering wheel with the LED's and LCD screen on a F80.

I have been looking (for years) for one for the F90.

Does anyone know if one is even availible for the F90?

Great taste, Andy! I always loved this wheel. The truth is that there is not any part of it that I need, but I think it looks awesome.

Here’s mine done by AZA with heating and driver assist functionality.
Inspired by the wheel from the new Singer Porsche DLS-Turbo.
Perforated outer wheel, alcantara inner wheel, piano black trim, Snapper Rocks Blue CF center strip, M stitching, Evolve billet aluminum paddle shifters.

AZA is fantastic. It looks incredible, but how does it feel in the hands?

Thanks!

It feels incredible. The perforated leather gives the wheel a nice texture for grip and the alcantara is pretty quality. The seam that separates both is barely noticeable and low profile so doesn’t affect the feel in my hands which is what I was worried about most.

I have noticed that I have to make sure my hands are completely clean to avoid getting the alcantara dirty.

You’re welcome!

Thanks for the feedback. Wanted the AZA full alcantara wheel for a long time, but didn’t have confidence in that material being the point of frequent and repeated contact on such a high touch surface.

Autotecknic carbon/alcantara trim
Carbon Paddles
Full Alcantara DIY wheel wrap from East Detaling. I’ve used their product before on my f85, love the quality and feel of the alcantara.

Finally got around to having my installer put my custom wheel on. Here is my honest review.

Vendor - Carbontastic - Recommended by a couple forum guys, location is listed as California. Used a 10% forum discount code.

Build Process - Easy to make selections, Chris was very responsive via email and helped with any needed clarifications. I went with a more simple build just to remove the eyesore stock wheel. Perforated sides, matte carbon trim and paddles. White stripe up top as I have a frozen white car.

Wait time - Was quoted 5-8 weeks. Think it came in about 9 weeks. At 5.5 weeks I received a full build photo and it was undergoing quality control. Apparently the stripe was not perfectly aligned and failed QC which is fine, but it wasn't communicated so around the 8 week mark I reached back out to find out they had to re-do it. Again I didn't mind this but communication is key. A quick email would have been great to keep the buyer informed. Once arrived my DAP bypass harness was not in the package (bummer...). Mistakes happen so I was also okay with this and they mailed one out for me within 2-3 days. Including this harness I definitely crossed the 10 weeks mark to have my wheel and all needed accessories for install.

Installer - Local shop I do a lot of work with put it on. Installer's thoughts on quality was good to pretty good tier. Most of the trim needed a little love to get clean sharp fitment. Some shaving here and there, a little glue etc etc. His biggest issue was that one of the holes for aligning some of the hardware from the OEM wheel was very off and that the trim around the heated button wasn't great. The button would get stuck, he ended up filing some of it. Lastly the paddles are probably my single biggest issue. They aren't great feeling and aesthetically are a little too tall/long. My left paddle works and feel fine, the right one he had to do a lot of modifying to get to a usable state and it's not great. It has a very poor click, doesn't register all the time and feels really off which is a shame because I enjoy using an all paddle mode to feel more engaged. I spoke to Chris and he gave me a good price on the JQ works magnetic carbon shifters they offer on their site. I shouldn't have to upgrade and spend the money, but I at least appreciate the discount to help make things mostly right. I'm sure these paddles will feel incredible when they arrive, I read great things.

Final Thoughts - Overall I am happy with my purchase. I don't like that they use UPS ground because it's fairly slow CA to MA. It also felt like part of the wait is just them waiting on parts overseas to finish their work making the wheel. I ordered because of the domestic location and it still had the overseas order feel. The wheel looks and feels great, stitching is beautiful. I'd just recommend the vendor communicate delays and be careful on a final box check when mailing out. Waiting for the harness after already waiting 9 weeks wasn't the ideal experience. Maybe a better choice on paddles as well as I honestly hate the ones you get with this wheel lol. The crew at Carbontastic were nice folks so they'd get my referral overall.

Rating - 8/10

Very interested in the G82 LCI steering wheel. Button layout makes me think it should just work.

It also means we gonna lose heating function as there’s no physical button on the steering wheel nor the option to enable it in ID7

There may be a button on the back or something? It looks like G80s do have that functionality and I'd be surprised if BMW got rid of it during the LCI.

Regardless, does ID7 not have the feature to auto turn on the heating at a certain temperature threshold (ID6 has it)? Admittedly, it's sort of jank
