Even though others may think that was fast, there is no way I am personally taking on a job of this magnitude. But, I watched the video nonetheless and holy crap — it’s fantastic. If I wanted this, I’d be having someone else do the install. Fitment and quality look to be great though, and I thoroughly enjoyed the video even though I’m not in the market for its contents. Their pieces look so much better than aluminum dark carbon structure they replaced. If you’re a CF nut, this definitely seems to be the way to go!

Yeah, it looks pretty complicated to me. But not for those that know how to do these type of things I suppose. Who could do this though?

You’d be surprised at some of the things owners on here can do (myself not included lol)! Some of the gentlemen here would actually have fun (a few names come to mind) with this, and probably could knock it out inside half a day if they really wanted.

Though I have seen way more complicated things than this, again, I personally wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole because my expertise is nowhere near the level of them. No way I am not inadvertently breaking a bunch of stuff in there throughout this process.

For a qualified professional, this is an extremely easy job, however. If you were in my area, I’d send you to someone I’d absolutely trust to do this job correctly.

Is there any way to get rid of the silver/aluminum pieces around the trim?
Perhaps someone makes those pieces too.

iirc requires you ripping your interior pieces out, i think i saw that done, but it's not worth it in my opinion

Looked into this because I despise that afterthought silver trim almost as much as I hate my brake squealing. It was suggested to me to remove the pieces and wrap them, but there is a significant amount of disassembly required and I was concerned with getting everything back together. Also, some of those pieces have clips along the back edges that would need to be Dremeled off and glued back on. God forbid you nicked the wrap and needed to rewrap a piece. Or because of glueing it back there isn’t enough surface area over the back edge to get the wrap edges over on to. No thank you. You’re right to be concerned about the process.

But I’d love if someone came out with a direct replacement piece that utilizes all the OE clips. I’d even take a good overlay kit even though I am somewhat opposed to the AT one above because of QC issues.

Why bmw didn’t do this as an MP piece blows my mind. They do for every other car lol. Even my X5 can get it.

That’s the mystery we will never know like why we don’t have dimming on the passenger side mirror and no camera washers, I don’t buy the saving weight argument either.

Just a quick follow-up on the Autotechnik quality. I had their CF grill professionally installed, and it came off halfway while driving yesterday (scratching the front bumper in the process).... I am 100% done with them and pissed that it caused damage. They are less expensive than others, but if you prefer quality over simple looks it's not the way to go.
I do have to mention, I assume it happened on a run with a tuned Camaro slightly ...great fun, and the Camaro missed it in both acceleration and top speed....what can I say...M5s are just awesome.

Yup. I’m not getting anything from them. I already changed my mind on them two weeks ago. Now I’m just trying to figure out a way to get the kit out of Russia to the United States. It’s difficult paying them because of the sanctions. However, I’m pretty tenacious. I’ll get it done and I’ll share pictures when I have it finished. I’m extremely glad I started this thread. It helped me avoid a massive headache.

The Autoteknic kit is a good proof of concept. I used it to get a feel of cf trim in the car.

In case folks are wondering the reason why proper kits are so hard to come by is because the door trims are plastic welded. You have to fully be ready to commit.

Now if you are still serious about getting a kit you can reach out to Ryan at iND. I had them make me a kit using their South Korean friends indv. Involved ordering a whole oem set and sending it over to get reskinned. Not cheap by any stretch, but doable.

Installed my AutoTecknic kit this morning. Happy Father’s Day to me lol.

Looks excellent. Fitment is about 99% coverage of the OEM panels, and another 1% that goes over to the adjacent panels. Actually very good considering how it is made and the price point.

I bought my car used, and the OEM panels had a few chips. This aftermarket part does a great job covering up the damage (every single passenger reaches out to touch the chip in the front dash, as though it can wipe off), and looks better than the original.

Here are a few before and after photos…

Did you utilize the existing tape or did you replace with something more durable as others have mentioned?

I will say this for anyone considering ordering from Carbon Fiber Art in Russia, as I ordered a different part (rear canards that can’t be found Anywhere else.) First, I have mixed feelings myself so not looking for a political discussion at all.

However, the entire experience was A+ all the way! They are extremely responsive and communicative, notifying of each step and even sending production pics with the tracking. Production and shipping was really quick, 3 weeks! Packaging was bomb proof. And the product: Fit and Finish is absolutely amazing, a work of art. It is that good!

I was dealing with ZER Composite. I can tell you this, those guys are awesome to communicate with. And I can tell they have the best kit also. That’s who I was going to go with before I ended up selling my M5. I was in communication with them, and that dude was talking to me as late as 11 PM his time. The only problems with dealing with them would be how to get them the money. So I agree with you. They got some great products going in Russia.

You have no idea how happy reading this just made me!

I ordered the rear splitters/canards and they're delayed a week. Should be shipping out end of this week hopefully. Boris was super easy to work with and great communication so far. Did you get them installed yet? Was drilling required or just 3M double-sided tape?

No drilling. They have 3m tape plus a hole on the bumper end that uses a bolt underneath of bumper so it lines up perfectly. I was really amazed at the quality and fit.

Hey quick question on the steering wheel. Where did you buy that from and do they offer it with the Driver Assist pro package options? I dont see the lights for the DAP options so just wondering. I really need and want a new steering wheel and this looks perfect but need the options for DAP

Thanks!
