Staggered OEM Winter Tires update - anyone?

I ordered the OEM staggered set up late summer/early fall. Got a call from dealer first week of November that they were still 6 weeks out which puts that into Mid-December.

1. Is anyone still waiting on them or have you moved on to square set up or 3rd party?

2. Has anyone else gotten similar info if you are waiting on the staggered set and do you have any updates from your dealer.

Thanks

Fortunately, it's not my DD, so I'm not using on cold days - but it's a shame to have this beast as a garage queen.

I'm in the same boat and have heard the same information. I originally ordered a staggered winter tire set in early October, and at that time was told the staggered set would not be available until early- to mid-December due to availability of the rear tires. The ferric
grey 4-square set was expected to be available mid-November. Based on the expected timelines I switched my order to a 4-suqre set. The place I ordered from started receiving 4-square sets from BMW on schedule in early November.

I am in the same situation and I use mine as a DD.
The dealer told me the tire sets have arrived in US and are in transit to dealers and I should have mine by end of next week.

Waiting Patiently...

I ordered the staggered setup as part of my car order and my car have been sitting at the Baltimore port for 2 weeks now. BMW will not deliver the car to my dealer without the winter wheels & tires already installed on the car. My CA has been trying to get an update from BMW on the tires, but has not received any official information yet.

I sold my '15 M4 and '17 M2 and have been driving a rental car for the last 3 months. Can't wait to drive the new M5!!!

I ordered the staggered set in October and was told in November they would never arrive so I switched the order to the square setup and am still waiting for those to come in. Fortunately I have an extra car in our rotation so I am able to work around it. I've never had a car where there was a problem getting wheels or tires. This round I am being told the delay is due to Michelin.

The only thing I could get was the Sotto IIs in 275 square, so that’s what i’m running. They seem good so far, but obviously 275 winter compound on the rear doesn’t really let you put all the power down. Already looking for Summer

Update from my dealer when I wrote them and said I heard they were starting to be delivered (the staggered set up).

"I just checked in and it looks like you are correct and they are starting to come in. BMW is air shipping them in groups from Germany. According to my supplier the first group of 8 sets just came in and were sent out already. He said that we should be in one of the next few shipments so hopefully in the next week or so but he can't say for sure as they do have to go through customs.

As soon as I know more I will be in touch. Thank you!"

UPDATE - Wheels and Tires are in

My car is at the dealer now getting the staggered OEM set installed. I'll take pictures as soon as possible. Really glad they're in as I've had to have it out the past few days in sub-freezing temperatures and could really feel the lack of traction, even at slow speeds.

The only reason it was out was back and forth to my detailer for film application and ceramic coating.

So, finally ready for winter - protected on top side and road-side now.

After researching this extensively and calling a bunch of dealers, I'm going to go with the staggered 19s 265/285 Michelin PA4 on custom wheels.
It's absolutely impossible to get the Pilot Alpin 5 in 19 inch that are specifically designed for the M5. BMW dealer says availability in February - what a bummer... I haven't looked for the 20s.
Am I missing out on a much better tire by going with the PA4s?

I ordered the staggered 19 in orbit grey setup back in October and they just arrived at the dealer today!! I kept getting the same responses as other people on the forum regarding the delay and lack of delivery date. Arrived without warning though today. Will post pictures once's they get mounted in the next couple of days.

Wheel weights

So, the factory balanced wheels are coming in with white/light gray wheel weights which is a bit unsightly. See pic attached. Dealer told me after I'd gotten the car delivered back via valet, that they could have swapped out for black weights, but would need to charge for the re-balancing. I'll just wait for next service visit now I suppose.
