BMC Replacement Air Filter available

The BMC Air Filter replacement kit is now available. Thank you to Stefano from BMC in Italy.

http://www.bmcairfilters.com/eng/car...01034/1617/art

What do you think about the replacement of the filters?
Does this inconspicuous modification bring a measurable performance gain?

I'm looking forward to your answers.

Have a look at the BMC Air Filters Homepage or ask directly a reseller.
The price for the kit should be around 200 € / 230 USD.

The filter is brand new. Look for a reseller and ask for availability.

The delivery time for my order is two to three weeks.

K&N bought out BMC a few years back.
AFAIK, if it marketed under BMC brand, it won't be under K&N.

I still don't understand the hype or appeal of replacement air filters... There's another thread proving how minimal of a difference it makes. Unless the original filter already needs replacement which I highly doubt, I'd love some feedback as to why this is a thing.

It may not help much on these cars (as the dyno results seem to show) if the stock filters are great. However on many cars and bikes, aftermarket filters DO add power, and are an easy and affordable way to do so.

The science may not bear out for the M5, but lots of people (myself included) come to the table with the idea that filters will help based on experience/research/common knowledge on other vehicles. There's plenty of dyno results showing 4-10 WHP gains by dropping in a cheap easy filter on all kinds of cars and bikes.

The replacement filters do - on this particular engine, it's breaking even at best... Credit the M division for hitting the stock intake box out of the park I guess... Shame they couldn't have done the same with the '18's and the frickin' chrome insert in the middle...

As for the much more pricey options, (ala eventuri) it's purely for sound (you should hear it) and it's purely for cosmetics reasons (you should see it)... Sometimes people just want what we want, there's no rhyme or reason to it and nothing to understand... Don't really put much thought into why people might not like something - if I like it I'll get it... Nobodies paying for it but me, (or my sugar mama) so wtf do I care about anyone else?

I don't blame anybody for getting a $2000 carbon fiber intake... Shit looks fire and sounds pretty mean as well...

Your right no performance gains at all, wast of money IMO.

Take the charcoal filters out and that's all you need. Unless you want the aesthetic or sound of an open cone filter from something like an Eventuri or GruppeM.
