Question on M Sports exhaust and Apple Car play

Hey guys

Debating between a 2018 CPO F90 M5 (regular) and a new 2019 M5 CP.

I couldn’t really care too much about the extra HP on the CP and prefer to save a lot of $$ by going the CPO M5. Have the following doubts -

A. The CPO M5 am looking at comes with the M Sports Exhaust (Option S1MAA). Is this exactly the same exhaust on the M5 CP ? Do they sound pretty much the same ?

B. Also I am big Waze user and noticed that it’s not possible to get a full screen view of the Waze maps or Google maps on the Idrive screen - can this be fixed ? I was reading elsewhere on the forum that a simple software update by the dealership should solve the issue . Can anyone confirm if they had this done and it works perfectly ?

Appreciate your feedback

I'd love to get the full screen Carplay, but I believe its likely limited by Apple. I have no idea, but I doubt a dealership would have an upgrade available. I'd love to know though!

Yes, the 19 M5 Comp has the M Sports Exhaust. But the suspension improvements alone are incredible.

Is the M sport exhaust (ordered as option S1MAA) on the regular M5 the same exhaust on the M5 CP ? If they are indeed the same exhaust then am guessing they should sound exactly the same ?

One car that belonged to a rich dude that got tired of it 😄

4K miles on it and 9 months old. The price difference between this and a new M5 CP is approx $41k where I am from

Over on the M2 forum there is talk of some coding to make Carplay full screen.

Yes, the 2 exhausts are exactly the same. I suppose they could sound slightly different due to the extra 17 hp, but you probably can't hear the difference.

for Carplay, there may be some hope in aftermarket as mentioned here, but nobody willing to discuss publicly (strange since Coding seems to be pretty common).

Mind me asking what the price is on the CPO car?

Holy smokes, if its $41k cheaper than a brand new one, I'd take that in a heart beat.

They don't don't sound exactly the same given the different tune on the MC5.

I assume it has to be very, very close though, no?

Any side by side comparison videos on YouTube or anything?

Is it one of the few engine replacement cars? Is there any way of knowing for sure (is there any requirement of the dealer to tell you)?
I turned in a 2018 with 2k miles that will likely be resold at a large discount.

I have M Sport exhaust as well. I assumed there was no difference to the human ear.

The MC5 sounds hollower, louder and has more burbling / crackling, especially in Sport+ Mode.

My friend owns a FE M5 so we were able to really compare the two.

The M-Sport on a Base M5 is better than the Stock system but not as good as the M-Sport on the MC5 as it's tuned slightly differently.

1200 mile service and installed M-Sport yesterday. In comfort sound is identical. Sport Plus maybe 10% increase in sound. I think it is going to take a few more thousand miles to really tell anything once some carbon builds up and more heat cycles etc.

I would go the F90 CPO route of I were you. The M Sport exhaust is the same from the CP car.

I disagree on the sound--it sounds phenomenal... from the outside... and on the inside, too... as long as you have a sunroof... and it's open... a lot.
