I got my M5 in Mar, one of the first ones in the country. I'm at 3600 miles now and it has been great for the most part except for a couple issues. curious if anyone else has had these problems and if you were able to resolve them:

1. clicking / ticking noise from the AC. the AC makes a slight clicking / ticking noise thats loud enough that you can hear it when the engine is on, and more prominently when the engine is off in start/stop. the noise gets louder when you turn up or down the temperature. i'm not sure if its a fan inside or what, but if anyone has had this issue and resolved it pls let me know. its loud enough that its annoying

2. rubbing noise in the rear, sounds like its coming from the diff. it happens every now and then, its a low rubbing noise when i turn right slowly or at an incline. it sounds like a bushing or something that is rubbing.

otherwise the car is awesome.

Me too, I get a rubbing noise from the back during slow sharp turns.

its the differential fluid. the G4 fluid was out of stock for a while so BMW issued a service bulletin telling dealers to use G3. check to see what fluid was put in your rear diff and have it replaced if it wasnt G4. the worst case is a damaged clutch in the diff

My issue with the car is when I'm pulling out the garage making a left turn I feel one of the tires slip and sounds like dump. Almost feels like the one of the tires is very low air making this slight dump under the car. Also felt this backing into garage and making U turns. But there isn't much of a sound to this issue, more like you can feel the skip on steering and under the seat

I've been getting an annoying creaking sound coming from the passenger side for the last month.
I figured it's because it's cold out now some of the seals have shrunk, but maybe it's this plate...

I also notice this sound coming from the rear as I start the car. I had my doors open and it sounds exactly like air ride releasing pressure to drop the car. I was busy at the moment didn't think much of it, now It's puzzling me

The mechanics know who the best tech around is. Find out then latch on to him like glue.

20 years ago I worked in several HD service departments and the amount of damage and issues (short and long term) caused directly by techs is hard to believe without seeing it for yourself.

That is normal - it is the fuel pump pressurizing, aka loading up prior to start, so a good thing.

My car is at the dealer for loud front clicking noises when turning steering right and left.....they were blaming my aftermarket spacers and wheels......so sounds like it is due to the "Loose bolts on front end stiffening plate." ?

My car is also making an odd sound when turning. Primarily while making slower left turns. I will attach a video for reference below. I would like to know if this is similar to those who have had loose stiffing plate bolts. I can’t think of any other causes at the moment. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had a similar situation, and I thought it was stiffening plate bolts based on some other owners suggestions. My thread shows what the resolution was for my situation at the end, and the service order paperwork is attached. Kind of a shot in the dark, but if you’re under warranty, maybe you can point them in the same direction since diagnostics is not on your dime. Hope this helps!

So my 2018 M5 started making this noise again recently, mainly a popping/creaking sound at low speeds with turning the wheel near full lock and particularly when going over uneven surfaces. Several years ago the dealership diagnosed the problem as bolts being loose that were securing the stiffening plate beneath the engine / subframe. I jacked my car up today, loosened all the stiffening plate bolts, and then retorqued them down to approximately 60 ft pounds. The sound is now gone, so it makes me think that these bolts tend to loosen and/or stretch over time. Just thought I would throw this out there in case people are having this problem recur like I have. If anyone knows the part number of the bolts, I'd like to buy some new ones to replace the old ones and use some loctite on the threads this time.
