It is a quality piece. When it came out, it was priced a little lower. I think keeping the heat down helps. Lower pressure would also help, but aI am not sure I want to convert to Evans coolant or not — it runs at reduced pressure. I run it in my turbo E36 M3 and ran it in my E90 M3 and have run it in a couple of non-BMW cars over the years.

Has anyone had an issue with their BMW dealer/service department regarding this issue? If so, it needs to be highlighted as we engage BMW and the NHTSA.
Also, I'm new to this forum and not sure if we could start a survey for folks who had there res replaced and replaced multiple times. Just to collect some data points. I'm sure BMW is tracking but they aren't going to release that info. Finally, any thought to mentioning the potential environmental aspect of this leak to NHTSA? I know coolant is very toxic and corrosive. It might be worth a shot to raise an eyebrow at the NHTSA by calculating how many BMWs are leaking coolant on our roads and into the storm water drainage systems.

I agree, a increase to $1250 makes it harder for me to rationalize given I have not had any issues. I will stay on the sidelines for now and continue to monitor my tank for leaks. I just went out and checked mine and still no visible signs of leaking after more than 2.5 years. I did add fluid to just below the maximum level.

Anyone know what dealer charges to replace the tank?

Once I’m out of warranty would like to know how much each failed tank will run me. I’ve had it replaced once already at around 10K miles.

That’s not bad though highly annoying. Seems easiest to just check the thing every couple months and pay for new ones if you lose the tank lottery a few times over the years.

Perhaps getting a 10 of us and reaching out to RK to lower the price to $1000 if we purchase ten of them would be helpful. I am in.
