Button on shifter that goes from 1-3 bars....and driving mode?

OK, still playing around with this car.....don't remember if my M6 had something similar on the shifter. I am still in the break-in period and basically have been driving economy mode with 1 bar on the shifter. I played around with it going to 3 bars today (but still in economy).

I assume Sport Plus with 3 bars is the sportiest drive mode? 3 bars on economy seemed pretty damn nice.

I can't find in the manual exactly what the 1-3 bars are for.....

Indicates how aggressive the car shifts.

Economy you refer to is throttle response, the other is shift pattern, reaction time and speed.

I drove my car in Sport Plus throttle and Shifting during break in, just kept the revs where I wanted them.

The M6 did not have that on the shifter. On the 6 it is on the console buttons

Console's a bit vague I think; it was directly in front the thumb-shaped shifter. Frankly, I preferred it there but that's mostly because I really don't like the F90's shift knob--the M8 or even M850 are equipped with much nicer...err... knobs.

So I have a 2022 M3 Comp. and it has up and down arrows on the shifter but when you push them there is no indication that it did anything. ???

MUUUUUUUUUCH longer when fully engaged in Sport+, but even then still fairly long in Sport, too. I often find myself manually up-shifting with the steering wheel paddles when in my M2 setup.

I know you were genuinely being helpful with this answer but it still made me snicker.

Be careful with setting 3 during your break in period. In D mode, even without wide open throttle, if you accelerate hard enough the revs can quickly exceed 5500 before shifting into second gear and third gear.
