Supercar Blondie
Doug Dumero
Vehicle Virgins guy

All ai don't care for too much at all. SC Blondie really gets on my nerves! But hey, car enthusiasts that have found a way to make money from doing something they enjoy, more power to them. I try to look at every YouTube video available for a car, motorcycle, toy, etc before I make a purchase so I've come across the above mentioned youtubers very often to give my opinion

Whether you like him or not he's far more legit than most youtube car people.
+1. Doug is an automotive journalist that has the same access to press vehicles as the likes of Car&Track, RoadShow, etc. You can see his and all the other reviews come out around the same time when the OEMs release their press embargoes. What I do like about his YouTube channel are indeed his focus on "quirks and features", the little details you would only notice if you were to drive the car yourself long term.

I'd treat all these YouTubers as these categories:
  • Some form of journalism: they review new cars, go over industry trends, and provide commentary. Doug DeMuro, Redline, and The Straight Pipes fall into this bucket. IMO, I watch all of these channels plus KBB so I can stay up to date on what non-BMW OEMs are offering, in addition to their entertainment value.
  • Projects: they focus on the wrenching side of car-related journeys and projects, general tinkering, and really hands on stuff. RichRebuilds, SamCrac, Hoovies Garage, and Tavarish are like this. I watch these too because I can probably learn a thing or two as I start to wrench on my own F31.
  • Entertainment: they focus on the experience side side of car-related journeys and projects. Salomondrin, Shmee150, Vehicle Virgins fall into this category.

Most of the YouTubers are unwilling to be honest for fear of not getting access to new cars and therefore just give you fluff. Others are content based on their own vehicle collection seems formulaic because they will have to flip the car in great condition in order to fund the next acquisition. I find most attempts at humor to muss the mark with their 2 1/2 men style of comedy. I do watch:

-Vehicular DIY
-SavageGeese
-Hagerty
-Redline Reviews
-Lovecars
-Carfection

Another for goonzquad & Vehicular DIY.

No ones mentioned B is for Build I think his content is quite good.

Also no mention of Edd China ? everyone was up in arms when he left wheeler Dealers. Very happy to see him back on you tube with his own channel - workshop diaries

I'll stick up for Doug Demuro. His quirks and features is totally unique in the space. Anyone who's worked as a creator should show a lot of respect for someone delivering something different in a crowded genre.

Savagegeese is probably my favorite. Alex on Autos is dry, but IMO sets the standard for detailed reviews and comparison.

YouTubers who are basically solo acts I subscribe to and why: (ABC order from my sub list)

Bucky Lasek - legend skateboarder, ex-rally driver, I grew up watching him
Chelsea DeNofa - FD driver, lets me see more of him beyond events
Chris Forsberg - FD driver, lets me see more of him beyond events
DriftSquid - Austrailian driver, drives an RB-powered E92 M3 real down to Earth, OG driftvlogger
James Deane - Irish driver, arguably the best drifter in the world
Ken Block - it is Ken Block duh
Larry Chen - legend photographer
Misha Charoudin - lives the dream working at the Nurburgring and driving cars on it near daily
Dan Burkett - FD driver, lets me see more of him beyond events
Ryan Tuerck - FD driver, lets me see more of him beyond events

Throttle House is getting really good these days.
I used to like Straight Pipes, but every video just seemed to kiss manufacturer booty. Got tiring real fast.
Savage Geese or Doug, I'll watch if there's an interesting car.
But i've noticed Doug's voice just get higher and higher and way more hand movement. It gets difficult to watch.

I watched Straight pipes last year and eventually got tired of the "dude lets send it brooooo" attitude.

No nuance to how they talk about the cars, just gimmicks with their launch control and visor test BS.

TH and SavageGeese are top notch. Great camera work, knowledgeable people, and CHEMISTRY.
