I didn’t think I will say it but that actually looks good. I am not entirely sure that this is not too aggressive for an executive sedan however gotta say this looks business. I still think that it will tip the scale at 2200kg at the least. We will see.

If you saw the video it weighs 2710kg. That is a mammoth 🦣. Previous gen looks way better and probably will have more potentials than this model once the engine is built.

Not M5. The XM weighs that much but there’s potential that M5 will be less with possible smalller battery pack. The way I see it is that it could use battery power rather for performance which means short highway pulls or sudden acceleration rather than actual usable electric only range.

Whatever happened to the M5 (or any M car for that matter) being the ultimate stealth mobile? The one that non-car enthusiasts could barely tell apart from the regular 5 series but destroyed supercars. This trend of everything being bloaty and showy takes away the essence of what a M car was meant to be. And sadly the M5 seems to be heading that way too.

IMO, we have the last "true" M5 with the F90's...so long joy of driving! Hold onto your F90's!

I'm not too concerned about the looks. What I don't like is the powertrain, especially when you read the XM forum. Notice how the non-label red gets a weaker V8 than the M550 despite the marketing numbers (which include the electric motor). So now it will be like F1 where you have to spend some time harvesting so you can actually get max acceleration when you want it.

And of course the weight increase is a concern too, but an awesome powertrain and everything else might help you overlook that (just like the weight growth the M5 has undergone for 20 years).

Either way I plan to hang onto my F90 for 10+ years. By then the G90 will be gone and another model will have replaced it. Normally if you buy a last model year the new model can make yours seem lame...don't think that will happen this time.

It looks like they will be bringing out a "Label Red" or Competition model just like they did with the F90, so jumping on the first model year may be a mistake.

Depends on how you look at it. I for example enjoy not as stiff ride of a regular M5 in comparison to Competition model. The only thing I like better in Comp are black badging grill and side grills and since my car is 18 I charge those dreadful chrome on door handles. I don’t consider M5 sports car so I don’t see stiffer suspension an upgrade.

I'm sure it will be fast when the electric motor is charged, and it is using both ICE and electric at same time. But once that charge is gone, that overweighted sedan won't be able to keep up with the F90. Plus all that weight, I can't imagine being able to handle curves that well.
