My stock pads squealed like an old school bus after the car warmed up. I tried several versions of repetative braking from speed, which quieted them down for a few minutes at best.
I bought the ACG pads and the squealing is 100% gone after installing the front. I didn't really do much to bed them. Easy driving at first with a few slow steady stops. I could not get the rear pads to fit, so am out the cost of the failed install and rear pads. The manufacturing error is less laughable than what I was told on the phone - we did that on purpose because we couldn't replicate the stock pad. Summary: old school bus, hard braky no worky, now quiet, expensive ugly paper weights.

Without responding to anyone individually I'm glad everyone is able to share their positive experiences. It is however, admittedly, annoying to see several members proselytize this company considering the obvious problems myself and others have had with improperly manufactured parts and no real resolution. I am literally starting to feel compelled to warn people about purchasing products from this company…

Hi Greer. This is Randy from Canada. I was at the BMW Performance Centre with you. What a fun day that was! Thank you for the advice on squealing brakes and this M5 Post forum. I appreciate it. Now I must jump in my Frozen Dark Silver M5 Comp and ponder whether the squeal is bad enough to worry about. It does seem to be subsiding as the miles are accumulating.

Just buy these pads direct from the manufacturer Porterfield and they confirmed they are selling the corrected rear pads now.....

Not sure why you're so annoyed at others for sharing an experience that they deem positve nor how that construes promoting a company. Bash away ..... I certainly could care less.

Not trying to bash you or anyone, nor is it my intention to cause ill will, but let me point out that when you vociferously vouch for a company with obvious and serious quality and service issues...your rep suffers alongside them, for whatever that is worth; which given the context is likely not much. However, at the very least, as a gentleman and regardless of my own experience, I personally would not continually encourage people to do business with any company under these circumstances. I say this, admitting that I purchased these pads based on your personal recommendation only to receive a useless product and eat the labor for the failed install...as did the poster above. Hopefully others will read a little deeper and use more caution when relying on enthusiastic forum opinions.

I personally, approve of this thread. I also take into account if another forum member, suggested a i.e. part etc.
I've been around here a long time 2006, and have seen a lot of BS and good stuff. As for these brake pads, eh, whatever, I will wait till something better comes along. |

Again, not sure how sharing my experience translates into vociferously vouching for a company; my experience has been good and that's what I've reported as have others on here. If your experience has been a poor one than "you" should post this for the sake of others who are contemplating purchasing these pads. I hope ACG does right by you and makes this right. Done with the back and forth; PM me if you want to have a live conversation.

I have been following this thread and the others referencing the aftermarket brake pads. I called Porterfield Brakes today and inquired about the brakes for the F90. I like others are dissatisfied with the brake dust and brake squeal. I believe I read Porterfield supplies the brakes to the company San Diego (the name of the company escapes me presently). The lady from Porterfield stated the brakes for the F90 are prototypes and will take 5-7 days to manufacture. I asked if she was aware of any fitment issues with the rear brakes and she stated she was not aware.

After a few hundred miles I am now completely satisfied with the ACG pads on my car, almost no noise and reduced dust. Wheels are easier to clean and needs less frequent washing. The installer modified the pad without any extra charge and the result is good, no fitment issues. Now that I had my wheels professionally ceramic coated I notice an even better result from these pads as most of the dust does not stick and whatever light dust remains comes off with microfiber towel whereas before I would hose with soap and water 2 or 3 times a week. Great combination: Ceramic pads with a well coated wheel =

Hi everyone- I’ve got to do something about this brake dust and squeal. Does anyone have pics of the modification or directions of what is needed to install these ACG rear pads with wear sensors?
Thanks |

I'm not on F90Post very often so forgive me for the late reply. This recent batch that we received did have backing plates for the rear brake pads that were thicker causing an issue with fitment of the Rear Brake Sensor. Our manufacturer has been informed of this issue and will be resolved in this next batch we have currently in production. The location of the sensor notch is now being relocated to the center of the brake pads.
One a side note, the first we heard of the Rear Sensor physically not fitting into the Pad at all was when we spoke with Ben @ RG Sport @ HRE Open House over the weekend. Has this been the issue all along? The only issue that had ever been specifically brought up is the location of the Sensor Notch. |

For any of you that have received pads where the backing plate was too thick to accommodate the wear sensor and DID NOT install the Rear Pads, please e-mail me at girard@acgautomotive.com. I will look up your order and send you a single revised brake pad which will allow you to install the wear sensor with no issues. No need to return the defective pad. The revised pad has proper thickness for the backing plate to fit the sensor and also the sensor notch is now centered in the pad.
For those of you that already installed the pads and had to modify the pads some to properly fit them, contact me as well and I can take care of you on pricing for your next set of pads. |

Well I have had my ACG pads on the car for about 5k now. I'm sorry to report that the squealing came back after about 1k. My pads were installed and bedded by Eurocharged in Austin. I've just come to live with the squealing as I would rather deal with that than the crazy amount of brake dust from the stock pads. I won't go into my ordering experience, but it was less than desirable. However, I am glad that others have had a great experience on both ends. Just my .02
