On a stock exhaust, it's not obnoxiously loud in my opinion

I think it's extremely loud. Granite I have full exhaust too but, I wouldn't do downpipes if you're worried about sound unless you have a tune to delete cold start.
I was running just a JB4 and was very happy with the power I was getting. But starting my car was embarrassing not to mention my whole house rattles and my neighbors hate me. So, I switched to a tune mainly because of that and I wanted to keep the DPs'

Are you looking for added sound or are the DP's so you can run more power? If it's power and you want to run a stage2 tune then you should get downpipes. If you just want to sound a bit louder then go with an exhaust. I have Remus and like it alot

i want to run dp's for both power and sound, and i'm going to tune it eventually so might as well delete the cold starts

upper and lower DP can you go stage 2 tune with stock Comp exhaust? I know Its a stupid and wasteful reason but I'd only want to change the exhaust for the better-looking tips and keep things somewhat tame. But then my 20-year old side of the brain keeps telling me to go balls to the walls and open it up from front to back

Yes, most stage 2 tunes will require full catless DP's. Stock exhaust is fine
