X5M to M5?

Has you gone from an X5M to an M5 and were you happy with the change?

I have had an SUV for 20 years, but I don’t need one anymore. And l love my X5M, but I am ready for a change.

Thanks.

Yes I went from a 2018 X5M to a M5 Base. Thought the X5M was the best car I had ever had, perfect all around vehicle and it may be. I've had a 2010, 2013 2015, 2016 and then the last 2018 so absolutely love them.
With that I could not be happier with the M5. I too wanted a change plus I have a 2019 TRD Pro 4Runner for SUV duties. Handling, power, comfort, quality is all much much better with the M5. The trunk is huge so you can still haul a ton of stuff for a road trip. If you haul people the back seat is smaller in regards to leg room though.

Thanks for the quick response. I’m retired, and it’s just me and my dog ( 95 lb German Shepard) so I’m not doing as much driving as I used to, but I am not ready for a Toyota Corolla just yet. My dealer has a few ( both base and competition) in stock, and I am ready to talk to him.

I love them both so I decided to keep my X5M and buy the M5. Just switch on days of driving each.

If I was still working I would probably do the same, but since I retired, I only drive around 4000 miles a year. I can’t justify two cars with that amount of driving per year.

2014 M5 to 2017 X5M to 2020 M5. I am turning my X5M into the dealer off lease in a couple of days. I have enjoyed it. But, I am loving being back in an M5. The handling is better and the lighter weight is nice while still having a good sized and practical vehicle.

As long as knees support and getting in and out of a car is not an issue, M5 it is! I had ground clearance issues with 911 but not with M5 Comp till now. It defies physics in curves for its size and weight. Huge trunk for kids stuff and groceries.

Yea Vink - even though retired, knees are ok, so getting in and out is not a problem at all. After reading everyone’s replies, I am going to talk to my dealer next week about the M5.

How about taking over the lease on my M5 comp? I have approximately two-ish years left and it includes snow tires...

I was in the same situation as you. I've had x5ms and x6ms for about 15 yrs. wanted a change so I scooped up an M5 last month and I love it more and more everyday. Only thing I miss about the truck is the cabin space. Other than that I don't even think of the x5m.

I am going to do this. About the only thing to get used to will be the ride height. It will be different sitting so much lower.

I went from 2015 X5M to 2018 M5, haven't missed the X5M at all. Even though I had the X5 tuned, down pipes, exhaust, intake and 94 octane, it was amazing performance, but I also like cornering. So the M5 is way better in the corners and faster. I think the X5M is one of the nicest looking from the outside, but the M5 is a way better driver. Yes, some days you have to step up out of it.

Yea Scotty- Based on everyone’s replies, I have decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on trading the X5M for the M5. My dealer has both the base and the competition in stock, so I will see what kind of deal I can get.

I turned in my X5M yesterday. Went for a drive in my M5 today. I think this is the most I have enjoyed a vehicle to date.

I actually like the looks of the new X5M.....might consider switching out once my M5 lease is up.

Went from a '18 X5M to a '19 M5C and could not be happier, except for the brake squeal.

I drive it like a granny most of the time, but when I want to get the adrenaline pumping, I hit the gas and hold on tight.

I drive the same way most of the time, but I do enjoy messing with the kids and their Honda’s with the big exhaust pipes. The look on their faces when my X5m drops into first gear and disappears is priceless.
