Yes she is amazing!

Just did a round trip to Rhode Island! Really
Had a chance to open her up

I messed up too. I already did 7K rpm a few times and way above 100.
I'm under 500 miles so far.

What does 1200-mile service actually give you?

Full check-over and Oil changes ?engine and gearbox (i think) and diffs.
Over £600 here in the UK, so not cheap.

Engine oil , rear and front diff.
No gearbox oil change.

Anyway , BMW never does the gearbox oil replacement , even if you ask them.

Don't sweat it! I actually found it very hard first day, because in all the shift modes, you accidentally can go over the rpm in a flash! I already have 1,100 on her since the 18th and taking too and from Manhattan today for meetings. Tomorrow is my service..

Si I had my 1,200 mile service last week and have now 1,500 on the clock. Wasn't too bad during break in and only went over 5k briefly a dozen times or so.
Today was first day I dropped the hammer and WOW!!! You basically just hold on for the ride and it consumes all your senses. 0-60 was a blur and not much more than a blur to 100! what an amazing machine.

Break in "service"?! I've never heard or experienced that before, on any make or model. That something new to this M5??
I had the same for my new e92 M3. At 1200 miles all those fluid changes happened and 94,000 miles later the car is still perfection. Going to follow the same instructions for the F90 comp.....

My E92 M3 has 1200 mi service— changed most fluids. Big debate for breaking in the Porsche GT engines— manual says 2000 miles under 4000rpm but dealer and mechanic said it's hogwash— these performance engines have already been tested before placed in the car— true for M cars also. BUT I would say there are parts and pieces closely associated with the engine that need that period to marry to the engine.

Sometimes I feel the reason BMW and other companies created the break in period is really for the drivers. They "say" that you can't do certain things but it is really to keep the new drivers of high performance cars from driving off the lot and getting to an accident. If they say that you can't rev too much or go too fast, it gives people time to adjust and get used to the car. Well at least some people.

When I bought my new '09 911S, I was told same exact thing...

I believe what I am going to say was mentioned by someone here before. When the car is newly assembled, there is a possibility of certain parts or areas not properly assembled or installed properly though this is highly unlikely. By setting a recommended rpm and speed, this is to minimise causing extensive damage if there are indeed parts or areas which was incorrectly installed or assembled.

For example certain parts or gears require to be aligned properly during assembly, during assembly the gears wasn't installed and/or aligned correctly, by restricting the vehicle's engine speed, damage is minimised.

At least this is what I think. In today's day and age, engineering tolerances are so tight, breaking in rituals are more of a formality rather than a necessity.

I have "Never" broken/bedded in "M" car brakes, just drove normal and used the gears all the time to slow, and never had a brake problem or a squeak out of any. This includes CCB and Steel rotors.

I took delivery of the F90 Comp on 16th May 2019. Immediately after turning out from the dealership, I took it up to 5500rpm and 2 or 3 nights later, I took it up to 100MPH LOL! Felt really good!

Brought it up a couple times to 4000 or 5000rpm when there were some "challengers", usually after hearing the loud V8 rumble and the way the car accelerated, 100% of the challengers backed off

This is a beast!

My steels are squealing when coming to a stop......... Not sure why or if this is normal?

It's a chronic problem throughout the line, many threads about it. Best to upgrade the pads if real bad.

The M sport pads that come on this beast are the ONLY pads that work for this car on the track. They had to be tough to stand up to track duty. As a result, they squeal. But, they're decent, but not great track pads.

Where'd you hit that? 684 in Westchester or 27 on way to Hamptons?!
Both have amazingly flat stretches, had cars flat out on both before.
Also good stretch as you pass croton on hudson on 9.

Why would they squeal cause good for track?1 Do a search, good upgrade on pads that don't squeal.
