I've not (yet) developed that Imaginary Lat Syndrome but I do notice that shoulder rotation exercises and now walking around I am at least brushing some extra stuff now. It's all your fault Rmtt for telling me about those straps. Last night I did my sets @ 12 with an extra plate above what I ever tried without them

LOL.....Your back is infinitely more stronger than your grip...and I have done plenty of grip work.

But I'm not ashamed to admit I break the straps out for any Dead-lifts or Rack-Pulls that are 4 plates or higher. Or when doing weighted pull-ups.

With the straps, I can focus on pulling "through" my elbows if that makes any sense.

Last night I amused myself because I was able to lift my pinkies like I was having a nice drink

Is it strange when the guy on the rack next to you just starts giggling in the middle of a set :

Same here...but I've always been a glutton for punishment.

I remember years ago thinking that if I wasn't nauseated after a leg workout....I wasn't going hard enough.

Times have changed though.....and I now realize there's much more to it than that.

Haha, i feel that. If my legs don't feel like jello I don't think I hit them hard enough. If that is the case I'll usually just hit the stairs until I can barely walk!

Back and triceps this morning. Finished up with a couple mile run. Abs felt very tight throughout, little uncomfortable. Think it was because I was helping some guys on the floor stock some weld strip yesterday. 100lbs a roll and I must've moved 50+ of them lol.

Made it to the gym last night, arms/chest/back and some cardio . added a little weight on each lift felt good . If I can stay strong through the weekend and not have any cheats when it comes to food I think I can break below 240 on my Weds morning weigh in. Weekdays are easy to stay on track between my commute, and work hours. The weekend is the tougher part with all the free time , I'm gonna push through though as the results are worth pushing through!

Last night I just felt SOOO GOOD at the end of my workout, sitting in the cajuzzi. Not the warm water, the muscle pump/endorphins flooding the brain. I've done something every day for a week straight, and have first soccer of the season tonight!!!

Took an off day from the gym yesterday for the first time in two weeks I think. Still managed some physical activity though, ran a few miles and walked my dogs. Then picked up some patio furniture that i had to assemble. They always provide the most bullshit tools, and nothing is ever a standard size where I can use what I have. Took me like 2 hrs! lol

Lifted chest this morning, although I woke up a little late so rushed more then I would have liked to.

Nice man! Keep after it.

Lifted arms this morning with some cardio. Fiance made chicken pot pie, and honestly it's probably one of my favorite homecooked meals. I ate about half of the family sized pie lol. Stomach was in knots this morning, but was able to push through my workout!

New guy here jumpin' in the thread. Been training for 30yrs,did a few local BB'ing shows as a middleweight back in the day...life changing injuries (2 lumbar fusions and one cervical fusion) forced me to stop training for 5yrs. Got sloppy and way outta shape. Doctors had me on multiple hardcore meds for my spine, decided couldn't live like that any longer and in '18 I started training again against my Ortho's advice.

Took almost 2yrs to get where I was happy and decided I would step back onstage on my 50th Bday this past October doing an NPC Masters Physique contest. A month before the contest and after dieting for 20wks I tore my rotator cuff(3rd time) and long head of my bicep doing yard work. Ended up having a shoulder replacement in November '19. Just started doing cardio again but I'll never get back to where I was and just can't accept that.

Attaching a few pics so y'all know I'm not full of BS,first pic is day before I decided to resume training(sloppy 205lbs). Two other pics were during dieting last summer for the competition,190lbs&182lbs respectively.

NOTE-if the pics offend anyone I will remove them

Nice!

Good to see another face around my age. (I'm 45).

Don't worry about pics...if they offended people I would be banned already!

Can't train heavy at all after my surgeries so I had to change it up and figure out a new training plan which was quite challenging.

Very impressive, I never get that low. I probably sit consistently around 13-15%. Rmtt gets down there during his cuts. Don't have the drive to get that low, constantly going out on weekends an all that jazz.

I went through a similar stint when I injured my back. I don't go that heavy any more. Kinda a downer, but I still enjoy myself every day in there haha.

LMAO thats good to know!

I'm glad to hear there are folks our age here training and staying fit. It's not easy when you're 45+ as metabolism slows down, recovery time increases and strength goes down compared to when we were invincible in our 20s and 30s.

Here's a crappy grainy pic from when I was in my 20s at 185lbs,I was blessed with awesome quad genetics and ran with it. Leg day was my favorite and I moved some impressive weights back then. Max squat, ass to ankles without a power lifting suit was 735lbs at bodyweight of 235lbs.

No nothing that gruesome thankfully! Just sciatic nerve problems. Took me about 6months to rehab it away the first time it happened about 3 yrs ago. It will rear it's head every now and again so I just need to be careful in there. Never went and got it checked out, but I'm assuming theres some issues. Possibly genetic. Younger brother just went and got his back checked out. Doc said he has uneven weight distribution in his hips which is causing his spine to curl. He needs 17 spinal adjustments over the next 3 months or so, luckily all non surgical. Not sure of the entire process.
