Dinan Tune

Per my local Dinan dealer/installer they are going back to flash tunes. No more Dinatronics.

Anyone heard this?

Have not heard. I did send them a PM the other day to see if they had any updates on the tune and if they think it will be ready for spring.....their answer was

"Your guess is as good as mine as to when it will be ready".

They have flash tunes out for their dealer networks, Thompon BMW in PA has flashed a bunch of F80 with the new Dinan tune.

Its possible the Dinan tunes are just re-branded CarBahn tunes too

What's strange to me is that when you ask them anything about the M5 tune, they will not give any information. Somebody there knows something about the timeline, and could ballpark the availability of it, but they are annoyingly choosing not to.

Exactly. So basically it means three things:

- We aren’t getting shit. They won’t make a tune lol.
- They have something amazing in the works and the product is awesome
- They have a tune but are having issues with it.

Clearly it’s all anyone’s guess at this point but fun to speculate!

You would assume so given this has been their "Claim to Fame" for some time. I think in the absence of the warranty, Dinan may be an afterthought as they've always been pricey.

I just talk to Rusnak BMW the other day. They no longer are allowed to install dinan products. Or any other third party products.

Also bmw no longer backs Dinan products for warranty.

This is new. Just happened maybe a month ago.

Previously installed Dinan cars are grandfathered in for warranty.

Look into it.

Dinan is dead.

That would explain the no timeline from Dinan. They probably don't wanna waste time with a tune that won't be backed in conjunction with BMW. Changes their game.

The fact that they cant and wont install Dinan parts is not coming from BMW, thats a dealer leadership/owner decision.

Dinan was always separate from the OEM warranty, BMW's OEM warranty never said it would cover Dinan parts and Dinan parts could void your OEM warranty just like any other 3rd party part shoudl they be the cause for failure. Dinan will work a Dinan dealer to provide warranty repairs though Dinan should it be the Dinan part that caused the issue. - Most Dinan dealers are much more forgiving on warranty claims through BMW when you have mods, unless a rep needs to come out and look into the warranty claim.

Dinan Warranty disclaimer -

If your vehicle is currently covered by the vehicle manufacturer’s new car limited warranty, Dinan products are warranted for the remaining term of the vehicle manufacturer’s new car limited warranty. The manufacturer’s new car warranty is limited to 4 years or 50,000 miles (80,000 kilometers in Canada), commencing on the date of first retail sale or the date the vehicle is first placed in-service as a demonstrator or company vehicle, whichever is earlier. Dinan’s warranties are transferable when ownership of the vehicle into which the Dinan products were originally installed is sold.
To obtain service under this warranty, the vehicle must be brought, upon discovery of a malfunction or defect in materials and/or workmanship, to the workshop of any Authorized Dinan Dealer, during normal business hours. Proof of purchase in the form of a lawful invoice is required. The Authorized Dinan Dealer will, without charge for parts or labor, repair or replace the defective Dinan component(s), as well as any original vehicle manufacturer’s component(s) that may have been directly affected by a Dinan component, using new or authorized remanufactured parts.

The timeline is around what has the most demand...its not F90 tunes right now, F80s will get all the attention first. but I bet they will show up later this year

Weird because this is the Exact opposite of what my local bmw dealer and Indy performance shop told me last week. Indy shop has been a DINAN dealer for a very long time. Rep was just there per owner.

This was our only hope but no tunes in the horizon (covered under warranty and operated by Steve Dinan)

https://carbahnautoworks.com/bmw-performance/

As a side note looks like the highest producing HP tune on the market is from DME Tuning....

Your dealer is 100% correct, sounds like that other dealer is very confused.

My dealer boldly advertises Dinan. They've had m2 in showroom with Dinan logo/badging and mods. Last yr they installed Dinan stage 3 on my F82... warranty issue came up and it was resolved appropriately with zero dram or stress. It depends on dealer. I read recently that they would have both flash and piggyback options.

How will Dinan warranty work with a 7 year, extended warranty I bought when the car was new?

Its a great thing to have isnt it...carbahn is trying to do the same thing now and expand their dealer network - AKA Steve Dinan's new company
