Good question and my worry too. Some tanks have canister access from the top with a access door in the trunk. Easy Peasy . Some don’t. Have to drop the tank.

When I got in my car after work, the fuel gauge was working again, but the check engine light is still present.

Tomorrow I take delivery @ 1, so i'll post the work order along w/ all my new pics!
Just sat with the tech. It's a very quick cable tie inside fix they know exactly what to do.
Dashcam installed, tinting done, sensor fixed, just got to decide if to do ceramic pro or sharkskin. Not likely to spend $1000 on a black grill just because I have night vision. License plate goes in the trunk because I can't bring myself to drill that front!!!
Thursday it's mine!

Fuel sensor recall and fuel pump recall even though my car never had issues being done now.

Thanks! I'm sure you'll get yours in the next day or so max. My dealer is 30-40 min away from the port which is probably why they got the car so quickly.

anybody know is being European delivery gets more delays at port??? it's been at port since Monday morning. also I'm assuming the recall is done at port or is it at the dealer? I really can't wait for that car I know I need to be more patient lol! driving it and having it for two weeks might had to do something with my low patience level!

Well I called my service manager after reading through the thread.

Indeed all M5 are on recall for this fix but parts are not available yet.

Mine was done before pick-up last Friday, it involved just a reprogram (software update).
No parts needed AFAIK.
Also exhaust bracket replacement on my Sports Exhaust.

Where'd you get that M engine cover? Is it not specific to US?

The software update addresses a different issue with fuel flow to the engine. The fuel level sensor recall involves securing a wire inside the gas tank. It is only needed on the early cars, built before April 25 I believe.

Hi My car was built end Feb 2018 and registered end March, no recall here in the UK as I just asked BMW to check my VIN.
