I asked my guy what the parts about and he said he's not going to tell me till he sees me, since it's so "fn" ridiculous!
I then sent the photo just posted on previous page and his response was "Crazy right ? $113000 car held up for a .10 cent zip tie."
SMH!!!

Ok, I know I posted something about patience earlier... but a few wire ties slowing down my highly engineered German supersedan? You're killing me smallz.

I know it's funny as hell, but I lived and worked in Germany and I must say the only way is the right way for them.
I am sure it will be perfectly fine!

I just got a call from my salesman... my car reached the VDC on the 9th and was affected by the recall, but they were able to get mine processed and released to transport. He did let me know that 5 other cars were there on hold for the recall though. Hopefully they get it processed quickly for you, but mine was only delayed two days.

Yup mine was one of those cars being held. Work order was completed today and they show a carrier pick up for 7/21 with a dealer delivery of 7/22. I'm hoping the car get be shipped earlier since it was a priority 1 sold car instead of waiting until Saturday. I rather take delivery during this week instead of next Monday!

I guess I am the only one that had this problem.
This was before mine pick up.
Had to wait for two weeks for right tank side to be delivered
Couldn't find this before, I just crossed the names, figure guys like to know

As far as a recall, this isn't one, so must be a stand alone issue.

Welcome to the club! From this thread though, you will see that it's a 2 second fix with zip ties!

Does anyone know what happens if the car thinks it runs out of fuel??? I just filled up my tank and my car thinks it only has 1.5 gallons of fuel ~30 miles of range. The car is going in to service in 3 days, but I will exceed 30 miles before then. Will the car think something is seriously wrong and refuse to operate normally if the car thinks it has zero fuel?

I think if gauge shows 1.5 and stopped working. You'll just get constant reminders to refuel

Is the zip tie inside the tank or on the outside? How hard is it to get at?

The gauge just didn’t reset back to full. It’s still dropping as I drive and will show zero soon. I’m worried the car will prevent itself from starting if it thinks the tank is empty.

Ok, that's a different story and very curious as to what will happen. Keep us posted and good luck!

Just a guess from reading the doc....it's inside the tank since it can interfere with the float arm.

Hmmm... be sure to bring it in for service at 1/4 tank or less... Sounds like they may need to drain the tank for access in this scenario.

Does that mean they have to remove the tank? Is gas tanks accessible without removing all the rear end of the cars driveshafts and rear differential? It might actually be a large labor intensive job for a stupid zip tie
