I own an automotive/exhaust shop, and we do exhaust everyday. I would say drone free and you still get pretty quiet with valves closed in efficient mode.... the magnaflow x pipe costs about $100, stainless tubing you can get under $150, then add labor.... this costed me about $300 out the door

Drone free?
That is hard to believe, did you try low gear under load. Like driving slightly up hill I low gear?

There are so many drive modes you can select which makes it easy to avoid drone. The nice thing is if you want quiet, close valves and run in efficient or sport mode. In drive, sport +, and valves open it's not even that loud. if you want loud, drive in sport +, valves open and trans on level 3. I'm very happy with setup.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Would be good for another video, under load and driving with the finished article. Does make you think why spend $000, when a few choice pipes can do the job. Right, anyone selling their standard exhaust ?.

I refuse to spend ridiculous amounts of money, $3000-8000 on a few mufflers and pipes....I will be building a custom rear section in the near future in all stainless and will post videos when it's done and will offer to build other M5 owners systems for a fraction of the price of the big name guys

That's true but, you need to switch it. All the time. No matter what settings you are in stock it doesn't drone. Something you can't do ones you remove resonators. Not big deal, I need to switch mine all the time. Lol

Great post. From the video looks like you're in Bastrop? I'm out in Houston, would definitely take a weekend trip to get fitted up at your shop man. I have a MBB Comp on order, it has been a toss up between that and Snapper Rocks, I never got to see either in person but the color looks awesome on your car.

I do work and live in Bastrop. As long as I have the stainless x pipe and pipe on hand it could be done in half day. Those were the colors I was also considering, ultimately went with Snapper as the MBB seems more common.

I've been thinking along the same lines, I didn't really love SRB on the 4 series but it seems to suit the 5 better. Any regrets now that you have it in person?

No regrets, it sounds good and costed a fraction of these overpriced systems on the market. I will be building a custom rear muffler section for research and development since I own an automotive/muffler shop, and possibly even selling them to other m5 owners at a reasonable cost once I am happy with the results. As for the color, I love it as well!

I removed resonator, Installed x pipe in its place, and also replaced the rear/center muffler with pipe.
What is the purpose of that center section? Just an additional muffler? I'm having an xpipe installed tomorrow so am curious about this as well.

It's purpose is unclear, but I can assure you its completely empty/hollow.
