For me on the BW system.
I chose studio. Treble at 0 bass + 2 EQ treble and bass up two notches. Like a smile face in the EQ. Seems to sound the best for my iPhone downloads and XM. |

Bass restore feature on the line level converter doesn't work that well. Subwoofer is still worth adding though.

I have almost the same, and I push the sound 2 steps towards the back seat. It can sound like it has too much low bass but when driving the car this is needed.

Until BMW partners up with the digital sound masters at Median Audio we are going to have to be happy with HC, BO, and BW. The cabin on any car with all of that glass and any road noise makes it a huge challenge.
Great to see so many folks that care about audio here. |

Being an audiophile is a disease to which there is no cure. We can never just be happy and are always looking for that little bit more in terms of resolution, musicality, imaging, sound staging, etc. It just seems like a cruel joke that so many audiophiles are also car guys...

For those audiophiles out there, I had just spoken to Kevin Voecks, designer for Revel speakers, and we were talking about my home setup and the frequency curve he looks for in his design. We discussed tools to analyze and other stuff.
Anyway, we talked about how people like a bump in the bass and a roll off in the treble (the true frequency response when you account for the room). So using the tools we discussed, I tried to replicate a better frequency curve in the M5. These were smaller changes to smoothen things out as it is very hard to make things perfect. You definitely can go more heavy handed or change to your personal style but this is a good starting point and I still use it about 6 months later. |

So you left the bass and treble at neutral? No adjustment on those.

That is correct. My measurements showed that it didn’t need it. But of course, personal preference can push you away from those settings. I found the sound already pretty bright. I could understand adding more bass especially with a V8 drowning out some of that area in the frequency range.

So, massively dissapointed in the Bowers and Wilkins in my 2022 M5.
Had a G30 540i with HK before and this was better. I believe the issue is the complete lack of warm and substantial bass. Started investigating subs and amps but had a mess about before I pressed the button as this is a new car and I don't want to be messing about, nor should I have to considering the expense of this option. So, I have been messing around with the EQ and settings, a lot the last 2 months since I picked up my brand new car. In EQ, obviously boosted 100Hz, the lowest frequency to try and address the woeful lack of bass depth. This seemed to make it worse or at least did not address the lack of warmth in the overall sound. I therefore got some test tones on a USB stick, 40Hz, 60Hz, and 80Hz. I was flabbergasted to see that when playing these test tones, my adjustment of the lowest eq band, 100Hz did absolutely nothing. I then moved the Bass up and down and this changed the amplification of the sub 100Hz frequencies. However, when you move Bass or Treble, it pulls up the other frequencies, which makes it sound crap again. The solution is to therefore counter this effect of increased mid bass by the eq. My eq setting are therefore as follows and have addressed the issue. It now sounds acceptable to me and has at least a decent amount of depth. Set everything to middle (0), including bass and treble: 100Hz -3 200Hz -3 500Hz -2 1KHz -0 2KHz 0 5KHz 0 10KHz 0 Bass +10 Treble +2 to +6 depending on tune Fader -2 to -3 depending on tune Sound stage - Studio. Some of the other sound stages sound good but as other posts, seem to lose some of the already seriously lacking sub-bass. Hope the above helps. No idea why the system is like this in these cars. Someone seriously messed up. The above settings address this to a certain extent and make the system sound much more premium. I will still consider getting a sub but at least now I can listen to it and smile, albeit more marginally than I would perhaps have liked. |

I myself, tend to gravitate towards flat responses which allows me to listen to the music/content as it was intended. I hate over-processed audio or when EQ settings deviate too far from a normal flat curve. Follow my video and I suspect you will actually like the system and how good it is! |

I agree with the analysis he provided to you! Revel is actually part of the Harman group. Setup the system right and it will reward you |
