Secondary Downpipes - Removal Question
Question for the group. I’m looking at purchasing a cat back exhaust, most likely Valvetronic’s titanium catback. I also wanted to pickup a set of MAD secondaries. When I go to install the pipes, do I need to remove the secondaries from above, since I’m not replacing the primaries, or can I remove the secondaries from underneath the car only?

I accessed the clamps from the secondaries to the primaries from above. I doubt it would be possible from below to remove factory secondaries and install aftermarket. Getting the exhaust off the cat back can be difficult since the slip fit clamped pipes can be stuck in place.

That aliexpress "junk" is pretty comparable. Ngl. VT sources their exhausts from overseas as well. Just food for thought

I just put a CSZ titanium valved exhaust from Alibaba on my car. Pretty impressive and virtually identical to the $5000 one you are looking at, which is made is a similar Chinese factory. I posted my initial impressions and some pictures in a thread recently. I sure would not call it junk. If I thought I needed to pay more, I would — I just bought a $5000 turbo manifold from Supersprint for my M5.

Anyone who wants to come to NH can see, hear and drive it. I’ll put it up on the lift. I will try to record from behind the car at idle and revving in efficient and sport plus, and maybe from inside the car while cruising and at full throttle in efficient and sport plus. It’s quiet enough in driving gently in efficient that my wife does not complain and pretty wild getting on it in sport plus.

I sent the Supersprint manifold to Jet Hot for their Extreme 2500 coating. Swaintech was my first choice but they were backed up 3-4 months. Even Jet-Hot was 3-4 weeks. I’ll install it in March. The coating should help with heat management in the hot V of the V8. I thought about wrapping, but it is a spaghetti of piping.
I found absolutely nothing on reviews of the Supersprint manifold. I trust Supersprint on their claim that the stock exhaust was fine and that improvements were to be found only in the manifold and downpipes. When I first saw the stock manifold while doing downpipes and turbine wraps, I thought it looked like it could be improved, but until someone does a dyno, we won’t know. I doubt I will do a before dyno unless I find myself with more free time and I am looking for something to do. Turbo spool is fantastic stock and you can hear the turbos whistle like a diesel pickup with just downpipes so I doubt there can be much more improvement on spool. Potentially, it is a little higher flowing. My plan is to have an engine built next year. The manifold seems to me like an expensive mod for a stock motor. I would also say that about the $5000 to $8000 exhausts that some install, but they do add more sound and I do not expect the manifold to change the sound. I’ll report my experience with the install in a month. Pictures below do not show the manifolds nestled as they will be when installed. |

Most go from the top to install secondaries. For the exhaust does it have to be titanium? Why not mate with it with our exhaust?

Titanium is lighter and sounds better. The MAD exhaust is a good value at $1800, but a titanium exhaust for the same price is a much better value. Yours is not bad, and I think you are doing a great job bringing reasonably priced products to the market.
I have your primaries, though I will be changing them out for a pair of Savu primaries that I bought used for $500. Savu is the cousin of Keller, in stainless rather than titanium, but also coated, and remain 3.5” until nearly the end. Your newer Fatboy are closer, but the taper to 3.0” still starts earlier than the Keller/Savu. |
