M Performance exhaust tips positioning

Hey everyone,

I took delivery of my chalk F90 earlier this week. (inspired by josec70 spec!) I will post photos after some carbon accessories are installed. The dealer installed an M Performance exhaust system, and I'm wondering whether the tips need to be shifted inward. I found another thread on this topic in this forum, and based on the photos shown by that poster, I think my system needs to be adjusted. I'd really appreciate hearing from you guys on whether an adjustment is required. Also, if adjustment is required, is there any harm in waiting until the end of the break-in period? Photos attached. Thanks for your time!!

Congratulations on your new car and enjoy it in good health!

Adjustment is definitely required. The tips should all be at the same protruding length and relatively flush.

I’m unsure as to whether this would do any damage if you wait until break in service to adjust them, but I highly doubt it so long as there is obstruction and exhaust fumes can escape.

For anyone interested, the attached is from the installation manual. It clearly illustrates how to move the tips into the correct position, which involves rotating the tips to allow a pin to pass through the clamp on the tops, then rotating the tips back into proper alignment. I don’t have a torque wrench that will fit between the apron and the tips, so it’ll have to go back to the dealer for adjustment…

Quick update—the tips are been repositioned inward, however, perhaps a little too much, as they are now slightly inset. Tech says there is some play at a joint in the system and he can bring the tips out 3mm. I’m leaning toward doing that…

Hey brother! Car’s looking great.

Align the outermost edge of the inner tip with the fin on the center diffuser.

You were outside of it when you had the exhaust installed and now you’re inside of it.

See pic ...

Thanks very much—that will make the alignment much clearer! I really appreciate it! I’ve got m performance parts (side skirts, splitters, mirror caps) inspired by your chalk F90, but I’ve decided to wait until spring to install them. We have lots of snow and ice up here, and I’ll spare them at least once winter season. Will post pics once they’re installed.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply — much appreciated!

You can PPF and ceramic the CF pieces for a little extra protection, particularly if you’re doing a front lip.

I just picked my car up from the dealer who installed the M Performance exhaust and the tips are staggered. I think it looks good staggered. The sound is amazing. Not obnoxious but definitely louder than the sport exhaust. The cold starts in the AM might be a touch loud though. :-) Oh well. It doesn't last long.

Those cold starts…sometimes I start the car in the garage with the door closed (then open it within 30 seconds) to provide some sound dampening for the neighbours. Our garage becomes a massive subwoofer!
