Catch can / oil blow by

Has anyone had issues with oil blow by? My exhaust tips seem to be coated and it definitely smells like oil after hard runs. I am curious if that is a norm and if anyone is running catch cans.

I just installed primary DP's and only have factory secondary's left from the stock exhaust.

Appreciate everyone sharing their experiences!

I'm also really interested in installing oil catch cans in this car. It's easy to find the PCV return lines on the air intakes, but you can't find room under the hood to squeeze in a fart let alone two catch cans and lines. Maybe with eventuri intakes it would open up some space with the stock airboxes gone?

BMS offers a kit for it. As the cars get older, I expect blow by will become more of an issue.

That setup is designed for the older F10 generation. While I'm sure it would work just fine functionally, there's no place to mount them on the F90. At least, not for where this kit's mounting hardware is designed.

Yes I don't know if they've even made one for the F90 yet, I haven't looked in to that myself.

I agree that the F10 generation used oil like crazy, and I have yet to have to add any oil to the F90. Probably has to do with redesigning of the piston rings. However, I'd still like to have a catch can to get all the oil vapor possible before it accumulates on the valves. Currently there's just no kit for this car, and probably because there's no room for it.

Next time i get out for a decent drive i will take pics of the tips. Maybe it isn't oil but sure smells like it. Only other thing i would think it would be is unburnt fuel being sprayed for the bangs and pops which i wish i could get rid of. I have an old can from my supercharged denali i may try and see if i can get to fit somewhere given this damn COVID situation. I dont have an oil burn issue but then again have changed my oil a couple of times since the breakin change and only have 5-6k on the clock.

I definitely develop some sort of film or coating on the tips when driving it hard which has to definitely be some sort of vapor come out. History tells me high boost + DI = oil but that is just my guess. I do think its odd that no one has tried to find a solution so maybe there is nothing to solve..

I will say that just pressing the exhaust button off kills the pops and bangs for me.

That's what I did with my S8, see link in signature.
I had a catch can on my GT4, but removed it after seeing that all of the residue accumulating around the intake valves was from oil getting past the valve guide seals.
Now I just atomize Redline SI-1 into the intake every 1K miles.
