I'm thinking of ways to drop weight

Questions

1. Does anyone know what the lightest aftermarket exhaust system is that is available? Cat back ? Looking for largest weight reduction

2. Ceramic brakes? Anyone aware of a non-OEM (or cheaper option than OEM) to reduce the brake weight. I don't have the ceramics, and was thinking I could switch to cut pounds

3. Wheel options? What do the OEM wheels weigh and any recommendations for some of the lightest wheel weight options ? Just curious

4. Other ways to shed pounds (without removing seats)? Any ideas ?

789 wheels are lighter but not sure how much

HRE is known to make light weight wheels but they are pricey

789Ms are about 9 lbs lighter per wheel. Why so many competition cars came with 706s is beyond me. I wouldn’t hav bought my particular car if it wasn’t for the 789s.

Realistically, the M5 is a 4300 lb car give or take depending on spec. To really make a difference, you’d prob need wheels, ceramics, removing the rear seat, replacing the front seats with light carbon buckets (both of which you don’t want to do) and there you might end up around 4000 lbs. In doing all that, you’ve not only completely done away with the purpose of the M5, but likely spent 30-40k in the process which could have been used for a car (or significant portion of one) that could out of the box be a really good weapon for handling and speed - something like a 911 turbo or AMG GTR.

Depends on the build/model etc...

The Driveshaft Shop had carbon fiber driveshafts for the F10, maybe see if you can convince them to make one for the F90

You could just keep 5 gallons of fuel and fuel up to this point every day. Weight of the fuel is quite a bit of weight.

Why don't you try the opposite. A lot power sure makes your M feel much lighter.
